Do you think that parents still have the right to call for their kids attention even if they are separated?

Lets say a couple had been separated for many many years. The mother got legal custody of the daughter and the father got legal custody of the boy. So each parent lives with one kid. But the kids could visit their folks and sleep over if they want, that is no problem.

The daughter is now 18 and lives with the mother and the son is now 20 and lives with the father. The son lives with the father and the mother lives with the daughter as they are still studying. The daughter does not work yet and her dad pays her studies the same goes with the son, although both kids receive still an allowance.

The boy had alwyas been a mischief since he was much younger and he likes to get away with everything and arguee with his dad, sometimes he does not like to pay attention to his dad. The son and the dad both have tattoos. The daughter does not have tatts and neither does the mother.

The father has 2 medium size tatts. 2 on his shoulder and the boy has also 2 tatts one in the shoulder and the other one in the anterior forearm and a 3rd one in the ugliest body part ever: a big one on the neck.

Anyway, it seems the boy just recently got inked again and more or less the mother was not like very happy about it, but the boy was very happy about it. The mom call his attention about it and the son simply answered: So what? I no longer live with you. A bit rude if you ask me the answer

Now my question is, Do parents still have to call for a kids attention even if they dont live together and even if the son is already and adult but still lives with a respective parent?
