How do you cope with death?

My wife died last year. I'm so depressed and lonely and while my son brings me joy he also brings heartache because he reminds me so much about her.

Please do not remove this question. I am NOT suicidal. I am looking for advice from others who have lost close family members or spouses.

I'm sorry for the loss of your wife 😔 I lost my dad in a car accident when I was 12. I had an argument with him the night before and said some mean things to him, I wanted to apologize to him before he went to work the next day but he left early when I got up I found out he was killed in a car accident. I felt horrible for all the things I had said the night before. What made it worse was my mother and sister started abusing me after he died. I lived with guilt for so many years. My uncle my dad's brother adopted me at 13. I felt like giving up so many times but what kept me going was the thought of making him proud of me. I know your son reminds you of your wife and it's painful, loving him is loving your wife also and she's proud of being there for him. I wish you and your son the best.

I grieve a bit, then send them on their way. I won't see them again but at least they're going where they're meant to go, so I'm happy for them. But all in all, death doesn't bother me. It's just the end of cycle and the start of the next.

That and I have a disconnect so that helps

Well I am super sorry to hear that. You have a right to grieve and I think everyone’s coping mechanisms very much so depend. Have you tried going to counseling? Maybe going will help give you a start to things
