Was this a visitation dream, or a trick of the mind?

I had a dream where I was sitting on the ground, with my grandparents sitting above me in my aunt’s dining room. My grandparents looked middle aged and healthy. My grandma told me that she wants me to wear her ring. She left me two rings of hers. The valuable one is a beautiful dark blue vintage sapphire ring. Was my grandmother visiting me in my dreams, or was it my own subconscious mind trying to come to terms with her passing?
