Is slapping your child in the face considered child abuse?

I do imagine that in court, if the judge hears about one parent having slapped their child in the face, that will for sure hurt their case.

Sometimes I see the line of what is abuse vs punishment being blurred. As a child and throughout my teen years, I was slapped in the face thousands of times by my mother and my throat was grabbed once by my dad and brother. Although abuse from my dad came in the form of threatening and emotional abuse while with my mom, it was both. I remember when I was 12 years old, I heard my mom on the phone with my grandma bragging about how she'd slap both me and my older brother in the face.

I absolutely consider what she did to me abuse of a child, she no longer does it because I'm now significantly bigger than her and exponentially stronger, and I've also stood up to her on many occasions, not afraid to get in her face and yell far louder than she can, to her astonishment.

She still tries to emotionally control me, and screams at me when I confront her on the constant abuse she put me through, she just fake cries and when i tell someone else, she demands that I tell them it isn't true. Same as she did when a doctor asked me when I was in the hospital for lung infections, if my parents ever hit me and I told him that my mom regularly hits me and she demanded that I tell him it isn't true, but I refused.

My dad then told me I disgraced the family and myself. If a parent slaps her child in the face with more than enough force to cause bruising, do you consider that abuse of a child? Should that parent be arrested and charged for it?
