Did this jerk purposely want to ruin my future?

I'm on my last year of college and lost my scholarship. Just for throwing orange juice, it was already a felony assault (I'm in California) but due to a plea deal it got reduced to misdemeanor. I still lost my scholarship either way and I'm not ever getting that back.

All that mess... had to show up in court and he had the nerve to smile at my misfortune. Did he had to do that? It was just an orange drink. I wouldn't have report that to be honest. I can understand if it was getting attacked but for a drink?

My parents are going to help me with the last year of my school education. Luckily we're not poor. Did he want to purposely ruin my future?

Honestly that whole thing took me by surprise... having to show up in court just for throwing orange drink at a jerk.

Wow, so many thoughts about this.

Sorry it happened to you BUT... Throwing anything at anyone has unknown consequences. The orange juice could have entered an eye and caused injury besides the fact there was a cup, or bottle around this orange juice. It might not have causes injury the same as throwing a brick may or may not cause injury.
You called this guy a jerk but is that a good reason to throw anything at him?
In today's world your opinions or my opinions will only be popular with half the country. The other have will hate my opinions. So do we throw things at the half that don't agree? Do you see how this bad behavior needs to be punished? Your punishment was severe but it could have been worse.


I suggest in the future you walk away from jerks OR you try to have a meaningful conversation to enlighten and inform. Good luck.

i'm confused. did he throw the orange juice or did you? not sure what would make you lose your scholarship unless you were the one to throw the orange juice. if you did, then yeah it's not a good look on the school for your scholarship. so yeah that is reasonable.

He did not ruin your future. You almost did yourself. Stop blaming others for your shit and take the responsibility. You trowed that orange juice not him. Next you gonna go and trow a rock at someone and say "its not a big deal?

Its important that you learn a lesson from it. You control your own future, not someone else. If you blame others for it then you not gonna learn from it, and in the future you will be in similar situation.
