It also matters what type of "hang out" you mean depending on what divides you. If you have conflicting religious views, you won't hang out in the theme of their preferred way of "worship"'. But you still may hang out at a non religious event. Or if politics divide you and you're convinced Donna trump is a tranny, you won't like joining them on a MAGA themed horror cock feast.

I don't know if that's normal. I suppose normal is what most people do. I personally like my family but I do NOT like to be around a lot of people. If it's just my mom, dad and brothers, I an be there sure. BUT when it's added cousins, aunts, uncles, sons of cousins and etc., then NO. I disappear in an instant if I can. For example now, everyone is here for my cousin's wedding on Saturday, all guests came to stay here a full week and a half in advance and I hate it! I don't hate the people, I just don't like being there with all chitchatting. I want this week and weekend to be over so fast. Most people in my family think I'm weird because of that so I suppose that's NOT normal, and therefore the answer to your question would be inclined to be on the NOT normal according to most people or at least to the people around me.

It’s perfectly normal, family can be deaining, time consuming, awkward and annoying in some cases , I also don’t prefer to hang with my family much as it’s kind of a roller coaster so wanting to be alone isn’t all that strange!!
