That's your parents, not all parents. Some or most parents are supportive. I'm sorry your parents are not. My mother was, my father was not. You are an adult now and should try to spend as little time with them as possible, and spend more time with supportive friends.

I know what you mean. I hear that a lot in stores where a mother will tell someone that her son is the dumb one and his sister is the smart one. Fortunately for my sister and brother and me my mom never put us down like that comparing us to each other. She always sees us as individuals. My boyfriend had a mother who put him down all the time. She said his sister was a princess. Makes me so mad.
