I vote country because the people tend to be nicer and more laid back with better priorities. Children can focus on more valuable life skills and enjoy nature. There are less bad influences as well.

My hometown is Tbilisi, which is a capital and the biggest city of Georgia. I grew up in somewhat of a fast-paced life.
Every summer we visited my grandparents village nearby…
It was like setting my soul free, breaking free from the concrete jungle and relax in a beautiful, mesmerizing place where everything seemed magical.
City life helped me be more competitive and ambitious because I had to learn how to live the fast paced, noisy life and now I am doing fine in Shanghai, that has like 25 million people.
However, village holidays gave my soul something to feed on, the palace of my peace, axis of my childhood happiness,
Almost all of my beautiful childhood memories are about my summer holidays in the village.
There in that small, green village, around the river, I lived a life that was worth telling.
And today, when I close my life and think of home, I think of the village where I spent my summer holidays.
Both are important: City life prepares you for the challenges, fast-pace and competitiveness of your life,
country life teaches to learn to let go and just enjoy the moment, just live a life as if there’s no tomorrow.
It would be a wonderful gift for children, if they are able to experience both.
*close my eyes and think of home
It depends. I grew up in the suburbs, and my step-siblings in the countryside. I had friends around. We went to the same school together. My siblings were alone and met friends only when visiting each other or at school. But we also had a really great time together exploring woods and fields without any other human being visible around :D
So it depends on how well you can organize your kids' social life in the countryside.
Country is also more natural, fewer hormones in the water, the reality of life and population density better reflects what humans evolved to deal with so the kid will grow up more healthy in the head and body.
Cities are very unhealthy and unnatural environments for almost any animal including humans. We got hundreds of millions of years of evolution telling our bodies and to a degree minds to avoid such high densities of people because that meant contamination, competition, and resource depletion.
It should hardly shock modern humans that people living in cities have mental issues associated with natural responses to the same.
I voted the suburbs as a good compromise.
I love the country and have lived in the middle of nowhere. It's good to raise kids in some ways, but realistically the country is dying out, unfortunately. The options for kids in the country are soooo limited. It's great for some people, but most kids would not stay there. The things they learn are of questionable value in the cities. It's great if they stay, but they probably won't. That's the reality of the modern world.
In the suburbs, you can get the best of both worlds. It depends on the suburb of course, since some are garbage.

Countryside or suburbs... depending on where and character of people. I know country areas that are not so good and some good. ditto suburbs. It's really a question of the character of the people.
There's areas in the big city that are ok, but Id rather have my kids grow up playing in the country, in streams, seeing animals, building work ethic, riding bikes, etc.
I'd say countryside. It's wholesome for kids to be in touch with and explore the wonders of nature. They are more active and healthy. They probably have access to better food, too, as opposed to going to fast food places and eating junk food. They may even see where food comes from, have gardens and raise chickens and other animals.
They have chores and learn self sufficiency.
I was actually raised out in the country growing up and I had a wonderful childhood. Now my friends and anyone coming out to visit me would get annoyed probably because the had to drive like 15 minutes to get to my house lol.
Single family homes - be they suburban or rural - are more spacious than appartments. Furthermore, the countryside is generally viewed as safer for children and has a stronger sense of community among neighbours than say a block of high-rise appartments.
I have always loved cities. Rural locations just aren't for me.
Cities have everything except pristine nature, campsites and most of them lack (clean) beaches.
Rural locations lack everything cities have. There is absolutely nothing for me to do there but aging and being on the phone. However I have huge respect for the farmers growing food and feeding us.

ideally... I would prefer the suburbs, first because it is what I am used to, and also because I would like it to be a middle point... close to bigger city surroundings but also closer to natural surroundings
I would want a balance between the best, or as much as possible, the best of both
I say Suburbs is a good balance.. You're around enough people and things to do but it's not the city.. And some Suburbs do resemble a country side sort of.. Plus... For city boys like me, Suburbs is good.. LOL..
Of course. Not necessarily way out in the boondocks. But right outside the city limits of a small town? Absolutely.
I think so, yes. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. We are natural beings so it only makes sense that we would thrive better in that environment.
I would say suburbs just because that's what I know best lol, kind of had the best of both worlds
Yes! Country living can be very bucolic. The suburbs are nice too. Cities are nice to visit but not a good place to raise kids.
Well that could be true but it could also mean that they get bored easier causing then to get into trouble more since drinking for example is usually a big part of living in that type of area. I think its more important on how they are raised to use their own reasoning and develop their own preferences to help then make better choices in general...
Countryside. I grew up close to the countryside and it's got more opportunities for growth than city or burbs
Suburbs early in life. Country living can be rough if farming/ranching is your trade. Country is nice for later in life when you’re financially secure enough to do so. Most of the people I’ve known tend to be within an hour of a major city.
As the children become teenagers NO , it becomes far too boring , but lovely when they are young. Overall , I'm voting for the burbs ,
Countryside or suburbs for sure. Not even close beyond that.
Countryside or suburbs. It depends of what kind of suburb, criminals etc.
No, because you’re asking to be like a farmer country boy a rancher, a cowboy if you want them to be a doctor or an attorney or or a professional athlete, you have to move to a city for your children,
Well, yeah, they have a few attorneys here and there but there’s not that many job opportunities like that for small country towns, I know because I’ve done a lot of traveling before and I’ve been to big cities and small country towns but you may not care what your children do whatever makes them happy not everybody’s got to be a doctor or an attorney
I can't speak for every state, but my state has a shortage of doctors and nurses, so there are tons of jobs available for them. My son is going to study engineering. My daughter is considering becoming a paralegal, but she has not decided yet. To be fair, we are a country state in general, but we live in the country outside of a medium sized city in a country state. But, in one of the least populated states by population density. There are still plenty of those jobs here.
I live in countryside with kids and love it
Countryside for sure
