What's wrong with an insincere apology?

My cousin found out her co-worker's long apology was insincere. That whole speech and ''heartfelt apology'' was fake.

She's more upset and now considers that woman a nasty person. She feels more insulted than the original offense. Why?

What's wrong with an insincere apology? At least they're trying to keep the peace. At least it's better than nothing.

My cousin even said it would've been better if that woman never apologized if nothing she said in that long speech was true.

Not really; I just said all that because I think it's what you want to hear, but I didn't mean one word of it. How's it feel to have someone lie just to placate and mollify you as if you are a child?

The reality is that such people are never sorry, they're just sorry they got caught. An insincere apology reflects that. Usually, such people don't get caught out and forced to acknowledge they were in the wrong at all. You cousin needs to accept that this is the way things are and to move on.

Why waste energy worrying about this person, that person will just win that way.

Everything within that waste of oxygen of a speech is wrong. It's not only about them NOT being sorry but they are showing blatant disrespect towards you by lying about being sorry. That's a double offense; first for the original offense and second for the lie.

The problem with it is she not only not meant it but lied and couldn’t even respect her enough to just not apologize but to fake apologize while basically giving her the bird it’s completely just a whole disrespect thing and I would be the same way I have been through a similar situation with people like that
