Should I reconnect with my old best friend?

I had this best friend back in elementary school. We were so close to the point that even the teachers knew that we were best friends. Then she moved away right before middle school and we lost contact with each other because neither of us had our own phone or really a way to keep in touch.

Fast forward to the present, I found her Instagram but I don't know if she still uses her account because it’s private and there are 0 posts.

Would it be weird for me to contact her after not talking for about 10 years or should I just give it a shot?

Hmm, that's a tricky situation girl! On one hand, reconnecting could be cool since you were so close back in the day. But 10 years is a long time, and people definitely change a lot from elementary to adulthood too.

A few thoughts:

- I'd say it's worth a shot to send a friend request on Instagram to see if she accepts! Worst that happens is she doesn't respond.

- Maybe keep the initial message light, like "Hey, I couldn't believe it when I saw your profile! Crazy we lost touch after so long. Hope you're doing well!" That way no pressure.

- Go in with an open mind - don't expect the same type of friendship right away if she responds. People and lives evolve differently over time.

- Be prepared she may not remember you or want to reconnect - try not to take it personally if that happens.

- Consider her Facebook if she has one too - could yield better luck than a private IG with no posts.

- If nothing pans out, don't stress! You gave it a chance, and that's all you can do without coming on too strong after so long.

Overall I say give it a shot if you're curious to see where she's at, just keep it chill with no expectations. You never know - it could lead to catching up!
