It’s disrespectful and yes considered emotional cheating on her husband , even though she thinks or assumes it’s innocent and the guy is just her friend , she is allowing another male to interfere in her relationship with her husband , even though her husband says he is ok with it , it’s still disrespectful to their marriage and I hate to say it , but her husband is probably cheating on her as well or keeping tabs on her to take her ass down in court if she crosses any lines with this other guy , because by him allowing her to have this friendship with this other guy, he is more than likely going to take her ass down in court, unless he is cheating on her as well. Her husband might use this against her , if she crosses the line or he ever gets busted cheating on her by him talking or fooling around with another girl. Her husband is probably hurting inside that his wife is doing this to him , he won’t say the truth because he doesn’t want her thinking he doesn’t trust her. . Sadly I have witnessed a lot of couples go through this when an so called opposite sex friend is involved So if that’s the case , your sister is wrong for what she is doing to her husband. When a married couple allows opposite sex friends to intervene in their relationship , all they are doing is adding fire to their relationship, if your sister is investing a lot of her time into this so called friend , it might be a matter of time before she cheats on her husband with him. If her husband truly loved and Cared about her , he would put a stop to it , and tell her it’s either me or him , to save their marriage. Or her husband is secretly keeping tabs on her to take her ass down in court if she crosses lines with this other guy. . The only way opposite sex people can be friends with each other , is if there is no attraction between each other what so ever , but the truth is , a guy isn’t going to invest a lot of his time into a girl just to be her friend , he is investing a lot of time into to her hoping to fuck her , People will try to sugarcoat this as much as possible, but the truth is , they are talking out their asses. If your sister chooses to cheat on her husband with this guy , she is digging her own grave when her and her husband end up in divorce court , all her husband has to do , is tell his lawyer that she has been emotional cheating on him with this other guy, for a long time and she honestly won’t get shit when the divorce is finalized , because it’s considered adultery Even if she is deleting messages and trying to keep things secret from her husband , the court can recover all her messages to this guy and she will be fucked. If your sister wants to save her marriage, she is best to distance herself from this guy and focus on her relationship with her husband. She is sadly playing with fire. Don’t think for a second she isn’t. All her husband has to do is prove she has been lying to him and she will get nothing , she better hope this other guy saves her and not just trying to fuck her. From my experiences with being the other guy with lying cheating women that lied to me about being single , I wanted nothing to do with her , after I found out the truth that she was cheating on her husband with me. Even if she told me the truth I still wouldn’t commit to her , because I wouldn’t trust her what so ever by cheating on her husband for me , I would thank her for a good time but not a long time. I won’t commit to a girl if she thinks it’s ok to cheat on her spouse with me, because I she has no dignity or respect for a relationship Jane would just be a a piece of ass to me and think , it would be just a matter of time before she cheated on me like she cheated on her husband. So if you love your sister you are best to give her advice and tell her she is best to distance herself from this guy if she wants her marriage to survive , if she chooses not to listen to you , Wait until all this unfolds and tell her I told you so. That’s all you can do , people make dumb decisions all the time and hopefully your sister learns from her mistakes
Well on one hand she's opened about the friend, but on the other hand, having a male friend like that that's not friends with your husband as well is a recipe for disaster.. Especially if she's excited about him.. I wouldn't trust it..

I understand and agree with you. But I think the point is that it's her husband's decision to make not ours. And if she is being honest with him about having the contact with this other guy, that isn't cheating. Cheating is doing something dishonest and hiding it.

It's normal that people had life BEFORE a relationship. It includes friends. And I can't imagine abandoning friends I know years longer than this man only because now I'm with him...

Cheating isn’t always physical. Turn the tables and have the hubby texting and calling someone they’re into… it’s extremely disrespectful and 100% cheating in my opinion.
I’d be livid. Like I always say, why would you want to pursue a friendship with the opposite sex and away from your partner? Just weird.

There is a lady who I was close friends with in college, who I connected with on social media about ten years ago. We talked on the phone quite often for about 6 months. Sometimes for like an hour at a time. I don't know if she told her husband about it or not but I wouldn't call it cheating at all. It posed no threat at all to the marriage and actually it helped her because the things that we talked about helped her come to closure with things that happened to her in the college days. However in other circumstances I could see it being a problem but not with our situation. So, I think "it just depends".
Sounds like emotional cheating. It usually precedes actual cheating. And her hubby is probably "okay with it" because he doesn't want to be "that guy", and suspects that it'll only make the relationship worse and like he doesn't trust her, and push her away more before she actually cheats anyway. But I suspect, if he has any ounce of self-love and self-respect, he probably doesn't like it. But yeah, her excitement to talk with this dude, if it's more than just the first time or two (so they can reminisce) would be a giveaway that there's some emotional cheating going on.
You never know how open and transparent people are in a relationship. You say hubby knows and is OK. Maybe he knows more details than you believe he knows and still is open with it. Maybe they have an open marriage lifestyle yet hidden from family/society in general. I'm saying you don't know and unless he finds out that she is cheating, it ain't cheating. And if it bothers you that much, then take it up with her.
In the end, they are adults and have made a decision together to allow her contacting him. Its beyond your reflection whether or not its inappropriate.
she should not be talking to other guys on continual basis without hubby knowing. It's dishonoring to their relationship. Open sharing, in a healthy relationship, trust, etc..

When an old flame pops up ut of the blue and hasn't gone out, maybe she is hot for him but is keeping a distance. If so, it doesn't mean that she may do something caught off guard. Her husband is probably open and understanding and trusts her and maybe he has good reason to or maybe the flame has died in their marriage and her passion has reawoken? Maybe she has bounderies and sometimes the texts go on and on and deeper and deeper, at that point one of them must call it off or something could happen and I've seen very often these things ceasing before they go too far. She is obviously missing some passion in her life and needs excitement, watch eyes wide shut and you'll partially understand what I mean.
Well it does look kinda inappropriate but this really also depends on a couple factors. If your sister's man is okay with this or they even have an open relationship then it wouldn't be so bad. Same deal if your sister really just intends to be friends with him only. Then it's not inappropriate. But I do understand how it could look that way.
Well is your sister's husband okay with it? Also does she just text the other guy? Or does she sext him? If she's just talking to him as a friend than no it's not cheating, but if she sexts him or talks in a non platonic way then it's definitely cheating.

This is completely unacceptable and counts as cheating as far as I'm concerned because this guy wants to smash. Her husband should tell her in no uncertain terms that if she wants to keep entertaining this "friendship" she can do so as a single woman.

I heard a female relationship guru say that women cheat more & that one reason is because they justify it by calling it other things. The just friends part is a prime example.
If she and her husband are okay with it, then why should we have anything to say about it? I try to stay out of other people's lives... unless they directly harm myself or others.

I don't necessarily think of having a friend of the opposite sex to talk to on the phone as cheating but added to what you mentioned in your question about her last week about? I think she is having an identity crisis and therefore trying to escape into a fantasy world to avoid what is going on in her actual life.

Think it would boil down to whether they were Texting or Sexting. If Sexting, then I would consider it cheating. If Texting her, he should tell his wife.
If she is married she should not be talking to another man. I can understand if they are mutual friends, but even then it seems weird.
If they are both ok with it I don't see the problem.
I think that this is a grey area. As long as the husband is aware and okay with it and they keep clear boundaries it shouldn't be a problem. However, if they don't maintain those boundaries it can go from 0 to 100 really fast.
