Not living in the US, I do not follow that tradition which I find totally out of place.
I refuse to open my door to children asking for sweets because I am aware that it is not good for them. I see how obese some of those US kids are and treating them with sweets is one of the stupidest traditions.
Furthermore, Halloween has lost all its meaning, just like Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is solely merchants that profit from this craze.
Ask any kid what those holidays are all about and not one single one will be able to give you a correct answer. Handing out treats is nothing more than brainwashing at its worst.

Yes. I only buy good candy - mini chocolate bars (Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, 100 Grand, Butterfingers, Baby Ruth, etc. and I usually give out 2 or 3 per kid. None of that crappy stuff like Brachs hard candies or cheap SweetTarts. I remember very well what everyone liked as a kid, and so that's what I do. Kids need things to look forward to.
yes... and the best of two worlds, as well...
