I'm handing out pretzels, fruit snacks and juice boxes since most people do candy.
If you answered yes then what are you gonna be handing out to the kiddies?

NO! What I am doing is what is called Trunk-or-Treat along with about 20 other people. It's a controlled event. I'm sorry, but I don't support allowing children to accept things from people the family doesn't know. I am aware this teaches some children to have trust issues later, but back in 2019 a child near my home almost died from eating candy laced with a dangerous substance. Nothing wrong with putting masks on and walking around having fun. I do it every year when I am at home. I am going as Hellraiser this year.
Man, that's a great question. I have a lot of candy left over from a party I threw with my friends a few days ago. (We're adults, so we don't eat that much candy, obviously.). I suppose if someone came up and knocked on the door, I would give them some. (The packages have been opened, but the candy is individually wrapped. So I'm sure it's fine.). Then again, I'd be perfectly okay if they didn't. Because then I wouldn't have to get up and go to the door every 5 minutes.
Honestly, I've never had trick-or-treaters before in my entire life, so I don't really know how that works. (I've never gone trick-or-treating myself, either.) Do people just sit in a chair beside their front door? Do they stand outside the front door? Do the people at the houses giving out candy dress up as well?
You know what? It would be cool if I had a mail slot. That way I wouldn't have to interact with them at all. Haha. Just drop the candy through the slot.
I just leave my treats out on my front porch since I'm busy taking my kids trick or treating. Most people hand it out tho.
And omg with the mail slot. I remember as kid some people in my neighborhood would hand it through their windows and doors cuz they were to lazy to go outside
Oh, wow. So you operate on the honor system? Some evil little kid is going strike it rich!! 😆
And lol why should they go outside? Is that what most people do? Do they sit on their porches for the entire evening?
@Apple1996 Interesting.
So what are the normal hours for trick-or-treating anyway?
I'll tell you this, if it's after 8, I'm not answering the door. I'm not letting anyone interrupt my shows.
@Apple1996 Cool
Thanks for the MHO! ... But now I feel pressure. Lol. I should have kept my mouth shut.
Dang! Lol
Nice. :). Please watch out carefully for cars! Even if they see you, their stopping distance will be longer.
Yeah I just got a combo of classic small UK sweets & chocolate…like maltesers, mini crunchies/fudge/curly wurlys/etc., sweets like drumsticks, parma violets (although i’ve been eating those since no one else seems to like them), refreshers and so on. But I don’t know if we’ll have any left for Halloween because my boyfriend keeps eating them 🙄🙄
Yes I always hand out candy each year. There’s lots of kids in this neighbourhood. My house is all decorated too. We like to give out chips and chocolate bars. This year I bought Halloween sized plain Pringles and assorted fun size chocolates.
Lol. I always want to be know as the “cool house” that gives out good treats. I’m a teacher, so all I hear about the day after Halloween is complaints about houses that give out shitty candy, usually old peoples houses. Or the people that give out other things that aren’t candy.

I NEVER have children come to my house for Trick Or Treat. It is set back a few hundred feet from the road and it is quite dark in my front yard, so I guess that are just too scared to try. This will be my fifth Halloween in this house and haven't had even one trick or treater!
i know Halloween is 4 days away but you could still do this. why don't you try and get full-sized candy bars and make a cool spooky or scary even goofy path to your front door and have like a sign at the beginning of the path that says full-sized candy bars if you dare or something get creative if you want to have trick or treater's.
@gerald5466 Unfortunately I think that's bad advice. I don't think children should venture that far from the sidewalk. Because what if they did that at someone else's house who wasn't a normal person like @OlderAndWiser? What if there was an actual witch living there? Lol
@Jamie05rhs . . . in witch case. . .
@OlderAndWiser Lol
Just a bagful of assorted Tootsie Roll stuff. We get maybe 20 or so on a busy day- live on a dead end suburban street in a town of 5,500. The town has a party at a local hall, and our church has a Trunk or Treat where I will be helping Friday night, 10-28.
We had 14 kids- slow year.
No I live in a high rise condo... no kids allowed. I have in the past though when I was poor and lived on a street lol
I will get some treats but here not many are going around asking for treats
Going to be out and about no Trick or Treat this year
I wished I was. Honestly. I kind of. One year soon. Want to go trick or treating. Just one time for fun. I can wear a mask. They will just think I’m a older teen and won’t know who I am anyways.
I used to love Halloween. But it isn’t what it used to be. I wished I could just have fun again
First I need to find someone to have a kid with. Lol.
But yeah you’re right. I will probably enjoy it more once I have a child. But I’m not just gonna have a child with someone. Lol
Ah very true hard to choose a good mother for your kiddos.
And yess it's so fun taking my babies trick or treating. It feels like I'm a kid again even tho I'm just taking them. Honestly lots of things like that when having a kid like I was picking out my son's video games and toys for Christmas that I was wanting for myself to play with 😂
Yeah exactly. I would definitely steal some of my kids candy. I need to try some to make sure it’s safe to eat. Right? Lol.
Yeah for sure. I would probably do that at Christmas too. It’s like when I got a fly salt gun for my dad but I also wanted to use it.
You’re never too old to have fun
No. I’d rather go out for Halloween than stay in and hand out treats. If i do stay in, i’m watching horror movies all night and i don’t want to be interrupted by the sugar freaks. Ell oh ell!
Come back and update the post after the holiday though. I’m curious how well those treats will go over. The houses that handed out “healthy” treats and toothbrushes on Halloween got TP’d and egged when i was young.
Any negative consequences?
I’d lean toward older teens, myself. But adults definitely get too much credit for being “more responsible than kids” generally. Ell oh ell!
Go with the toothbrushes.
I actually thought about but neither. Due to work. :c But hey, i'd rather have a job than going trick or treating know when I get back home I will have proved I still got it and got a good few pounds of... teeth... destroying candy... and i still have no job.
Adulting, man.
No. We live in a pretty rural area and our driveway is rather long. Also I'm pretty sure we're the youngest people in the immediate area. Not expecting any visitors.
I'm out of town on Halloween this year so no treats from me. Although I bought candy before I realized that, so maybe I'll put the bowl out on the porch before i leave
We've already had our first frost so no ants.
Yes we will. Handing out assorted candy. Expecting a big crowd! I miss when our kids were trick-or-treat age :)
Nah I’m handing out toothpaste because I’m a Halloween dick
Unfortunately they don’t feel the same not on the one day a year they get to dress up like marshal from paw patrol and get candy for it
Halloween has been picking up here in Australia which is awesome. We usually hand out some lollies and chocolate but poppers (juice boxes) is a great idea too
Yes, I've bough a good quantity of different candies, I'll put them in little decorated bags so that kids have the same quantity. I don't know if they will come, but I'll be ready if they do.
No, no and again no. Thankfully no kids knock on the doors around Halloween around here without a pumpkin outside the door. Fastelavn - another story, I'm not home that day.
nope. but i do appreciate your different take on handing out things to kids. most people don't think of the drinks etc, it can be dehydrating walking around all night lol
No, I am vegan. All milk goes in chocolate. Animal products give people diabetes and kills young children. I dont support that. Cancer and diabetes associations dont tell you that because they get sponsor money from the same people that are killing you with their food. Too many innocent people are dying from animal products.
We have little bags of pretzels. I put the leftover ones in my lunch.
Yes, for 2 nights we take a couple of fire trucks out and park them in different neighborhoods.
There is one larger neighborhood in the town that does theirs on Saturday, and the village does theirs Sunday.
We always hand out full size candy bars. We've been doing it for years. All the neighborhood kids make sure they come to my house
Yes they do. The candy bars are like our insurance policy from having our house egged or toilet papered
