It's not about money, it's about status. Manual laborers, even very specialized ones, are seen as a lower caste of humanity. This is idiotic; not just for the obvious reasons, but because your job is literally necessary for the continuation of human existence. That doesn't matter. It's not thought through, but then, bigotry never is.

If all else fails, befriend an autist. I doubt there's a single one of them who gives a rat's ass about social status; they're gloriously egalitarian that way.

I have a construction company and one of my carpenters was a homeowner at 22 and when they were 25 they traded in their BMW for a Grand Cherokee. Views on trades people is definitely changing because I'm not willing to a loser $100k a year
