My ex needed a place to live and her friend offered her to stay at her place. She did so for about 6 months before she moved out again. It's completely fine as long as your family approves of it. But let me tell you that my ex started growing apart from her friend when she lived with her. It seems like it might be fun at first, but once you see the differences between you guys, it can create conflict. And you tend to want your own space too. Just keep that in mind if you do happen to do it. It's extremely kind of you to offer her a place.
It is not weird and it is fine if all goes well. However, how do you get her to move out and maintain your friendship if thing don't go as expected? That is because for certain, after she has lived their for a while, she will view it as a right; not a privilege.
It is too much like lending money to a friend. Other than nominal amounts that you can consider gifts such as $5 or $10, you should never lend money to a friend because regardless of what she says and what you believe rarely, if ever, will a friend pay you back. First, she doesn't have it and second, you don't need it and after some time passes, she doesn't owe it. Furthermore, even if she agrees, she will be angry and resentful if you ask for a promissory note or the note and collateral such as a lien on her car if she has one. After all, you should know you can trust her which, of course, you can't.
when i was 18, my mom allowed my friend to live with us. i don't remember for how long. not more than a year tho. it was fun, very good times and memories
we had a falling out a year or two later (unrelated). but i think we are okay? and back on speaking terms -ish after so many years
When I was 15 one of my friends came to live with my mom, brother, and I for a while. His dad beat the shit out of him in the park in front of a bunch of the neighborhood kids. He came to my house with a lumpy head and my mom told him he can just stay with us so his dad doesn't kill him. I think you will have a lot of fun with your friend living with you, just respect the old man and his house and follow his rules. Don't have parties when he's gone and stuff like that, don't let shady people come over because you think they are cool or cute or some bullshit like that. Be trustworthy.

If a friend of mine needed a place to stay then yeah I would definitely have her live with my family. She would do the same for me I'm sure!
part of my family doesn't accept my best friend :D and we have shared this friendship for 40 years already...
I lived in his place for some time, and he lived with me... it was obvious to us that when we struggled, we could ask for help...
“But I don't know if it would be weird for her”
Set down the ground rules to her, “He said you can stay as long as you pay rent or if you can’t afford do chores for him around the house, is that okay with you?”. That is all you have to say to her.
Edit:
I wrote my response and GAG deleted it!!!
I did have a best friend. We have known each other since the second grade. He moved into my neighborhood and somehow I got invited to his birthday party. We had been friends ever since. We often stayed over each other's houses and I spent a week with his family at the beach.
He died last November. He had cancer.
I have a core group of about 10 best friends, but three that I am extra close to. I live with my husband, and they are more than welcome to live with us.
Hmmm, I bet your husband would love that. 😯
Professional he wants some rent and help in the house. As long as you and your grandpa have a healthy relationship ; this should be great for you to have your friend with you
I don't think it's weird.. I would be happy to let my best friend live with me if he needed a place to stay
@LaurenLoves And omg your friend looks like Nina Dobrev wtf? 😂
Yes I have a best friends etc. it’s not weird. My sister had her friend living with my parents for a good few months, I think about 8 months.
You never really know someone until you live with them.
No it wouldn't be that weird at all, especially if she's paying rent.
Not weird. It's compassionate. Don't make it weird, like with posting an unnecessary thirst trap.
Well she's not going to be living for free so its ok
Naw it's not weird. I've been in that situation before lol
You could always offer to try it for a few weeks to see how it goes.
I lived with my best friend for 2 years it was great!
Sounds fair conditions-wise
Not that I have a best friend
Sounds like Gramps gave you and her a fair option!
I have a group of best friends.
Not weird in my opinion.
Ask her, seems like an alright deal
Sounds like a fair deal.
If your family is welcoming of them? No.
@LaurenLoves No it's not weird
Think probably best don't live with friends
Come and live with me for free
why the photo lol
It might work
