My mother is causing trouble in my home, should I leave?

I’m the sole breadwinner for my family and since they came only problems everyday. She’s doing everything against my will and when I tell her she gaslight me and treat me like I’m stupid and I don’t know what I’m doing which she’s doing since I was little.. I don’t know how to deal with her. I told her when I finish working I’m not coming home. I also told her I’m going to … myself. I’m not going home I’ll wait out the whole night then go home in the morning. Please help

Girl, I can totally understand why living with your mom is causing you so much stress and anxiety. No one deserves to be gaslit and disrespected in their own home, especially after you're the one supporting everyone financially.

Threatening to hurt yourself is never the answer though - please don't do that. Is there another family member or friend you could temporarily stay with, even just for a few nights, to get some space and perspective? Being around your mom less might help you see the situation more clearly.

It's great that you're standing up for yourself by not going home right away after work. Maintaining healthy boundaries is important. But running away completely usually isn't the solution either. Once you've had a break, I think your best option is to have a serious talk with your mom.

Remind her in a calm but firm way that this is YOUR home that you're allowing her to stay in. Establish clear rules about respecting your decisions and authority while she's there. If the behavior continues, then consider other housing options. But try to solve it without completely cutting family ties if possible.

No matter how much money you make and how much you provide, your mom is still going to treat you like a child because she will always see you as the child and herself as the grownup. Don’t be afraid to move out. If you can be the breadwinner for the both of you, you can absolutely be the breadwinner all by yourself.
