Did your parents let you drive their car when you were younger (like 17-25) or did you have to wait until you got your own?

They let me drive theirs

Did driving lessons, but otherwise had to wait to get my own

I drove other people cars (girlfriend, boyfriend, best friend, etc)

I didn't drive until I was 26 or older

When I was young, maybe 12 or 13, my dad would let me sit next to him and steer while he was driving. The car had a bench seat.

He soon started taking me to large, empty parking lots to let me drive and get used to the controls.

I took driver's ed in 10th grade and got my learner's permit at 15 1/2. My dad would let me drive while he rode with me.

As soon as I turned 16 in 1970, I got my driver's license, my parents gave me a car, a 1966 Rambler American 2 dr hard top with automatic transmission and bench seats.

I had a lot of fun in that car and bench seats came in handy with girlfriends. 😁

Mine was blue with standard wheels, wheel covers and white wall tires.

Within a couple years, we had to rebuild the trans. In about 1973, I got in a collision that the insurance deemed to NOT be my fault and totaled out the car.
So my dad bought a new car and gave me his 1963 Buick Le Sabre 2 dr, hard top, with 401 cu in engine, automatic trans and bench seats.
THAT was a great car!

Mine was midnight blue with a white top. I christened it the Bismarck. It was built like a battleship and no car was ever more dependable.

I had drivers ed in high school I got my license at 16 and a half. I had a car a couple of months before I got my license.

My father got a company car at work so we had two cars. Some times when my parents went out in my fathers car, my brother and me would take my mothers car for a ride. We were 14 or 15 years old. We would drive around the neighborhood waving at all the kids. A couple of times we drove uptown.

One day we were driving home in my mothers car and my fathers car was in the driveway. They came home earlier than expected. My father was not amused and never left the keys in the car after that.

it was the other way around, actually. and it still pisses me off to this day. all because my mom didn't want to drive her own car. so i was stuck, in the house, just as she wanted. (i couldn't drive a big suv like she had).

My dad had us drive in his lap in parking lots when we were 13, then we practiced on driveways when were about 14-15, and then when I was 17 they put me in a driving school and I got my license shortly after that.

I got my first speeding ticket in my parents car 1 month after I turned 16.
