Why does my aunt act so rude towards our side of the family and friends?

We haven’t done anything to her but she will roll her eyes right in front of you and sulk

Well, without knowing any context, that could just be her natural disposition. Some people are just like that. Though, it could have something to do with how others talk about you and your side of the family to her and others she may know.


In my family, my mom’s brother (my uncle), loves his family. But, his wife (my aunt, of course) is jealous of how we turned out compared to her family. She hears people talk about how great my dad and sister are in their respective fields, and just as people in general. Both my sister and I went to school and now have careers. My aunt’s kids don’t really talk to her much, her grandkids are mostly have criminal records and are mooching off others. I only know that because she’s had conversations with my uncle about it, and it gets back to my mom. In general, she’s just jealous of how close her husband’s blood relatives are and how distant her’s are by comparison.


Jealousy can be a powerful motive for resentment within a family, especially for people who marry into it. So, maybe it could have something to do with how people perceive your family and she may just natural feel that she doesn’t fit in. But again, this is with zero context.

She will be all sweet and nice online but once we meet up she’s sulking in the back or rolling her eyes without hiding it it’s so rude
