For you Aunts and uncles, Grandparents, and "good friends". Do you take money for "baby sitting" your family members children or a friend's children?

My wife's sister will take money but I really don't care. She is a struggling college student, is reliable, is trustworthy and our children love her and she loves them. She refuses to take money but my wife will basically stuff it in her pocket. We would never offer money to either of our parents, they would definitely be insulted but if we were on vacation (alone! As in no screaming brats), we always bring them gifts and treat them to dinner.

The reason I ask, is because a guy I work with on occasion, said family should "never expect money or take it, when offered, for watching niece's and nephew's". He went on to say, that he wouldn't expect or take money for watching a friend's children. What are your feelings on the subject?

Many, many years ago, my wife attempted to get me to work... because stay-at-home-Dad is just a bad thing according to her Mother... even though she was just a stay-at-home-Mother... but whatever (that's a different argument to be had). I worked some popcorn movie job, then they moved me to just showing the movies. It was alright, I had more money for beer, got away from the kids, and all the chicks at work were trying to have sex with me.

Meanwhile she got to figure out it was cheaper to keep me at home, give me beer, and let me take care of the childcare. Things have been as they should be now for over 20 years. Childcare is not cheap. It's the fastest way to find out everyone hates your kids, and will give them sub-optimal care and learning experiences, while charging you a pay check's worth in cash... for each one. ... this is my background and this brings me to your question.

I don't charge money, like for my Grandchildren or when situations arise. Kids are hell though. They break shit, do shit, they eat, they shit... the list goes on. If I was forced into a situation where that's going to be a regular thing... I would start charging as a deterrent. It usually doesn't go that far because I make it known from the start that I hate their kids and don't like watching them. I can't exactly fuck my TPE fake vagina to interracial porn with kids running around or snort a single line of cocaine in front of them. Plus I have a keen eye for someone trying to use me as babysitting service so that they can fuck off and do bullshit like my son tries to do to me with his kid. He knows that if he pisses me off enough I will grab him and throw him across the room and slap him like a bitch that just got out of pocket with my pimp money. He tries to push it with his Mom, but then she puts it off on me, and then he hears about it when he comes back 2 hours late. Fucking taller than me asshole, I will poke his eye out and skull fuck him to death. That's when he knows he should figure some shit out instead of trying to toss his kid on us, so that he can get drunk and smoke weed with Nug Nug, Pookie, and Ray Ray. I told his ass not to trust a woman that says she's on birth control and to pull out anyways, but he doesn't listen.

I should be there for EMERGANCIES ONLY and not for some bullshit. I don't really have a problem with emergencies. But if it's because of lack of proper planning, financial management, or just wanting to let loose with Nug Nug, Pookie, and Ray Ray... fuck you. ... There's a fucking reason they're coming to me instead of to some facility that does that as a job... they think I'm going to be free... or way cheaper. Well fuck you then. Fucking selfish prick. I'm done fucking working... but you want me to work for free?

My wife is like fuck all help with it also. After an hour all her girly sentiments and love for kids leaves her body and she'd let a kid play with a blender. I wouldn't trust her with my own kids. She's retarded. I'm the only reason my own kids survived outside of her making the money.

I'll watch any of my family or friends kids for free. I would pay a friend or family if they watched my kids if they were in a spot where feeding my kids was a strain otherwise I know they don't care.

As the youngest of four (three older brothers), every time my parents would "go out", my mother would tell my brother's to "take care and watch over me". My dad would look at me and say, "Becky, take care of your brothers"! lol I would never accept money from family or good friends if I watch their children! ❤️

My family has always been of the mindset that you should offer at least some form of compensation to people who help you out, whether that be money, a free meal, a favor you pay back, whatever. It’s a good way to keep your integrity and show the person who helped you how much you appreciate it.

🤣🤣 I grew up watching my younger siblings! Yes, I was rewarded but never with money. Just a promise that I would get that cute dress I wanted or I could order food for myself lol... I wouldn't expect money or any gifts for watching a family members kids or a friend's kids.

My single mom did this to me too, I didn't get money, just was told to do it or else she would shoot me. This included cooking and cleaning. She wasn't going to work or anything, she was just getting drunk, high on weed, and doing drugs... or, she had a new man from the bar she was dirty dancing for and someone has to go away with his two younger sisters to not interrupt her sexy time.
