I’m 19 in two weeks, and decided that it probably would be best for me. Parenthood is not something I can see in my future. Having kids is a hassle, you spend more money, it’s mentally draining and overall a big responsibility I could never handle.

You don’t have to have kids to have a vasectomy, but many doctors will refuse you due to your young age. Most sane people don’t want kids when they’re 19, but statistics strongly indicate that most people do procreate later on. Sorry, that’s Darwin.

There seems to be a list of doctors who are willing to do the procedure on young people. Google around or ask on Reddit in r/vasectomy.

I would definitely not do it as a 19y old. Keep your options open, reversals are expensive and have low success rates.

In practical terms, perhaps. I've heard enough stories of doctors refusing to do it without a wife's permission, or without a few kids born already, you may have a difficult time in finding someone to perform it.

Despite what some will tell you, however, it's not a legal requirement in any jurisdiction I'm aware of.

Wouldn't recommend it. Especially at your young age. Just like a woman's biological clock, someday you'll probably get to a point where you'll start thinking about your legacy. Just good for thought.
