Many times the parents aren't making good choices either. Also, there comes a point where a lot parents just get tired of fighting the battle.
That kid might be legally a minor, but getting anyone, kid, adult, male, female; to do something they don't actually want to do is like pulling teeth.
The parents can only do so much and they know the kid is going to do what they're going to do anyway. So why make things unpleasant over something that's probably not that big of a deal?

Eating healthy is often more work (you have to prepare meals yourself vs. heating up something prepackaged or getting take-out), it's often more expensive to buy healthier foods, and many parents weren't taught to eat healthy themselves. You can't teach what you don't know yourself.12 Reply- 6 d
Agreed. My mom had a huge garden and eating vegetables was so normal I wouldn’t even question it. She was so nice she even planted rows of vegetables that we could eat fresh anytime.

because they don't eat healthy themselves and because they're so busy and exhausted, they just grab whatever. or the child's home life was so toxic, they turned to food for comfort. they were never taught how to eat properly. they were allowed to be picky eaters, etc... the list could go on.

even if parents failed, you as an adult can fix it...

True, but I suspect that views eating unhealthy as a perfectly acceptable way to live. Thus why would she change

everyone can change if they want... we got intelligent brains for a purpose... to use them...

They are landwhales themselves and have no clue how to eat healthily. In documentaries about the United States you often see two or three generations of fat people. And bad, processed, fat food in the USA is really bad food.

I usually just mind my business, there can be a whole slew of reasons why people are the way they are, it’s not my job to solve anything or try to help them unless they ask for it.

I agree with the personal choice argument. However this person was maybe 25, what kind of future is in store for her?
Doesn’t matter, she’s not part of your life and you have no control over her decisions.

yeah... that soft fatty tissue under your neckbeard does not exactly say "fruits & veggies"
more like McDonalds Happy Meals and extra gravy on the BBQ... lol08 Reply- 6 d
I’m a little overweight myself and I can empathize with the struggle to stay fit. I have to believe being 400 pounds at 25 represents a failure in parenting
- 6 d
then maybe you should ask your parents... why they did fail you
then you should also ask yourself, as the adult you know are... why do you keep failing yourself
and if you have kids, do not fail them either... they need you to stay alive and healthy as much as you can - 6 d
Buddy, I’m not getting baited by you. I eat healthy foods fyi

so... you don't have manboobs as well?
fat is fat... so you're obese too, you should be more understanding of others who are just like you

I’m a little overweight and I’m 40. I’m not 400 pounds and 25. Let’s keep this in proper prospective here.

being older means you're closer to a heart attack... diabetes, heart disease and chronic pain because of bone detriment, so...
like I said, you're already an adult, and not a kid... and whatever else you can do for your health, you obviously are not doing it
your parents have failed you, according to your logic... and you're also failing yourself, by the same logic - 5 d
Agree to disagree this is the end of the discussion

your neck agrees with me

cause they're not eating healthy themself. cause our educational channels have been corrupted by food industry lobbyists who only care about selling product, not about giving people a healthy nutritional balance.
00 Reply My parents always made my sister and I eat healthy. I still do. It is tougher at school but I manage.

Most of the parents do not eat properly so you have the blind leading the blind. Then look at TV with all the commercials for fast and fat laden foods for kids to eat.

Yes, fast food companies and producers of processed food make their products hyper palatable to get people hooked on their products.

What does being trans have to do with anything?
Very odd, you threw that in there.

I’m not anti-trans

My parents raised us just eating healthy from the start for the most part.

Unhealthy food is cheaper and more filling. And when you consider the price of groceries it's kind of understandable a parent not being big on spending more for kids will turn thier nose up at anyways.

He's mentally ill if he's pretending to be a woman, so likely the overeating is to fill some void in his life.

For some it is likely cost. I eat clean, but it can be very, very pricy.
01 Reply- 6 d
Yeah I hear you. I tell myself it’s worth it in the long run, poor health in the future will be more costly than vegetables, whole grains and lean unprocessed meats today.

Laziness is one word and it's pretty self explanatory.

I’m sure that is a big factor
Some parents don't know how to eat healthily.
00 Reply- 5 d
So they won’t fall into the trouble of not eating the proper food.

They never had to make me, even as a kid, I always liked healthy food.
