How come kids are a blessing if all they ever do is cry, piss and shit?

It can come from the mind cycle from the pre industrial age when many will lose a lot of their children through child birth or at young ages. So it would have been seen as a blessing when a child would make it through those odds. Not only were they fast sperm but they faced the challenges of being born and then the challenge of staying alive soon after. A blessing could be a religious way of being thankful for getting a chance to experience life.
