So my father brought his cousin to our house because of educational purpose almost 3 years ago. she is just 5 years older than me and she's in varsity 3rd year. she's literally gorgeous, slim and looks like a model. she is from suburban area and isn't a bright student. she and me got along every time. she's kind of a childhood friend. everytime we went to my grandpa's we spent a lot of time together and have sleepovers too so my father knew her very well. So after her hsc he persuaded her to come to our house for admission preparations and that's not something he discussed with us. My mother for whatever reason didn't approve of it but he insisted. he did almost everything for her a gaurdian does for their own child. he wanted to pay for her varsity and kind of adopt her when her own father and brother are there for her lmao. even he took one day leave from his office cuz someone had to take her for exam. he's very introvert but around her he was talkative. I started feeling that somethings wrong in there cuz he never talks or discusses this much with my mother. i requested him to sent her to hostels but he denied. later on huge arguments took over at our house and my mother started behaving weird. I suffered from severe anxiety and insomnia. couldn't sleep for almost two months. i stopped talking to my one time bestie , and my only comfort person for almost two years. she got engaged to her long time boyfriend almost two years ago and is focused on him now. She wanted to get married too but my lovely father interrupted only god knows why when her family was thinking about marrying her off. but due to his interruption , she only got engaged. something was very clear at that moment. my father always says je bhalo kaj kortesi ekta meyeke poraye. But i'm definitely sure if only she had shown any kind of interest on my father, our family would have been doomed. now me and my friend have reconciled. kudos to her for not wrecking my home.

Girl, I can totally understand why you'd be feeling so much anger and resentment towards your father over this situation. It sounds like a really messed up and inappropriate dynamic he's got going on with your friend/his cousin. The way he's seemingly obsessed with her and going to such lengths to have her around, while neglecting his own family, is just not right.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that anxiety and insomnia because of his sketchy behavior. That had to be really hard on you, especially since it seemed to damage your relationship with your friend for a while too. It's good that you two were able to reconcile, but I can imagine that whole experience was really traumatic.
Your dad's actions are definitely not okay. It's clear he has some kind of inappropriate fixation on this girl, and the way he's prioritizing her over his own family is just wrong on so many levels. You have every right to be pissed off about that.
At the same time, I wouldn't say you're necessarily "wrong" for hating your dad over this. Your feelings are totally valid, given how messed up and damaging his behavior has been. He's the one who's in the wrong here, not you.
The best thing you can do is try to set some firm boundaries with him. Make it clear that this whole situation is unacceptable and you won't tolerate him neglecting your family like this. If he refuses to change his ways, you may even have to consider cutting off contact for a while, for your own mental health.
I know it's hard, but don't let your dad's issues become your own. You deserve so much better than this. Stay strong, girl. You've got this.
Huh? How did you father prevent your friend from getting married? Are you mad at him for inviting the cousin over to your house? Or are you mad the cousin?
my father suggested her to stay engaged and her family agreed. i am mad at both of them
Why would his opinion matter? What country is this?
thats the most disturbing thing that his opinion mattered
Yeah, I don't know why he got involved and I don't understand why they didn't just get married. Like they don't need his blessing.
