My mom's advice for the longest was always ''The truth sets you free no matter what''. I feel it didn't. I've told a lie when I was in 8th grade (I wanted popularity, was tired of being just average) and someone else's reputation got ruined as a result.
Now we're in 12th grade and some people kept talking about the same thing. I guess I couldn't take it anymore, got reminded of mom's advice and admitted to the lie. While yes, everything has been cleared up by now and several apologized to that person.. I'm ruined now. They won't stop talking about it.
Is it going to stop already? It's been 3 months since telling the truth and I'm still given grief. A couple classmates won't even speak to me. Was it worth telling the truth? They're treating me the same or worse than how the person got treated. I've never been ostracized like this before.
