Why is ok for a father to hit his son but wrong if the son hits back?

I had a heated argument with my father. There were awful exchanged and he ended up backhanding me. Then mom gets involved and pulls me back from hitting him back, begging me to don't do it. I was ready to hit him back for the first time. I didn't want to hurt mom in the process so stopped. I wanted to hit him back so badly. Damn. It sucks I couldn't return the favor. Why is it a taboo subject from an adult son to hit back his father?

Well I have reservations for my mom and other women. At most I'll just push them out of the way, then leave. But with my father or other equal matched men, it's on.

I have no idea but if someone attacked you, it's either defending yourself or calling the cops on them. Him being your father doesn't make him special.

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I hate that now my father acts like I'm a disgrace for trying to hit him back. Why did he expect, that I was going to stand there and take it just because he's my father? Screw that.

As it should be but this pathetic culture that thinks it's right for a father to smack me just because he's my father but a disgrace if I strike him back.

It shouldn't but it's the stupid culture of people thanking their fathers for hitting them growing up (''Oh I thank him for hitting me a lot growing up, I'm decent because of getting hit), lol.
Why would I be thanking someone for giving me physical pain, for assaulting me? I find nothing to be thankful about that.
