What do you think of this message exchange with my best guy friend after we’d recently gotten even closer from sharing very personal things?

I told him good night, then mentioned I could say “night peanut” instead. I explained it’s from a Magic Treehouse book, and that the kids say it to a mouse.

He then responded “Or you could say "night, love."”, then after seeing that I saw his message but didn’t respond, he backtracked and said “British” and “Whatever floats your boat.”.

I quickly responded with: “🙂”

A little later on I sent him this message:

”I love you very much. You’re one of the people who I love most in this world. However, I might prefer “night peanut”. 🙂 🐇🌈”

After taking longer than normal to respond, he said: “Alright.”

A while later I responded: “After I sent that message, I realized the wording might’ve made it sound a bit dramatic! 🙂 I just wanted to let you know I didn’t mean for it to come off that way. It was just my way of saying how much I appreciate you.”

He quickly replied: “It’s alright.”

I responded: “🙂”
