How is a open secret a secret?

It’s not really a secret if everyone knows. If maybe it’s one of those things that nobody talks about but everyone knows it’s still not a secret.

Maybe I guess… For people say on the outside. On the outside of a group of people maybe. Who don’t know but everyone in the group knows

Its not official or there is a shred of plausible deniability.

Like two security cameras malfunctioning at the same time while the alleged crime took place and the footage of a third one that was noticed later getting "accidentally" lost is statistically highly unlikely but not impossible.

So it becomes a open secret that someone tampered with the cameras.

It's a nice topic of discussion but it doesn't get any value here. People tend to focus on irrelevant or one-word comment just to score points.

I agree maybe more of people on the outside though. Like amongst a family or a friend group. Everyone knows amongst one another but not others.

Idk…. But some people say it’s a open secret around here but if it was a secret they wouldn’t be saying it and not everyone would know
