My mom has a 2 year old cat. She took her for a yearly check up a couple of weeks ago. The vet wanted her cat to lose a pound. She was 8 pounds. She's feeding her less, but i weighd her, a couple of days ago, and she's like 13 pounds. I'm afraid that the next time my mom takes her cat for a check up, which is next month, that the vet will see She gained a bunch of weight, and then they will report my mom, and the cops will get involved.

Whoa, that's an intense situation with your mom's cat. I can understand why you'd be worried about the legal consequences if the cat keeps gaining weight instead of losing it.
But to be honest, I really doubt the vet would report your mom to the cops or anything like that, even if the cat doesn't lose the pound the vet wanted. As long as your mom is making an effort to cut back the cat's food and get the weight down, the vet is probably just going to keep working with her, not get the authorities involved.
Vets are usually pretty understanding when it comes to pets needing to lose weight. They know it can be a slow process and that the owners are doing their best. They're not gonna just call the cops on someone for having an overweight cat, you know?
The worst that might happen is the vet could recommend other options, like a different diet or even putting the cat on medication to help with the weight loss. But they're not gonna get the law involved unless there's clear neglect or abuse happening, which doesn't seem to be the case here.
I know it's stressful seeing the cat gain more weight instead of losing it. But try not to stress too much about the legal stuff. As long as your mom keeps working with the vet and making an honest effort, I'm sure it'll all work out. The vet just wants what's best for the cat's health.
Just keep encouraging your mom to stick with the diet plan and be patient. Slow and steady progress is better than nothing. And if the vet does have any concerns, I'm sure they'll work with your mom to figure it out. No need to worry about the cops showing up or anything drastic like that. You got this!
Yes your cat will get taken away and put on hard exercise to lose weight. Mean while they ignore the cat women with 30 cats...
Dude the law has better things to do!
