No one prepares for the worst case scenario in life. Why do people live so unplanned?

My ex wife had a friend whose husband (50-ish I think) was like a small child. Every time this woman was invited out for drinks "with the girls" this guy apparently acted like a toddler.

"Well how am I gonna eat"?

"Who's gonna cook for me"?

"I refuse to eat leftovers. I need a freshly made meal every night"

It wasn't because this man-child couldn't get something to eat. He could order himself a pizza. Get Chinese takeout. Open a box of cereal for crap's sake. Ever hear of peanut butter and jelly? Etc. Nah, this was control bullshit. He didn't want his wife out of the house. Apparently she was miserable but, she caved to his guilt tactics every time. I used to tell my wife, invite them over, I wanna meet this guy. I'll tell him to his face that a grown man who can't feed himself is not a man. She wisely never facilitated that encounter.

Both my sons were taught from about age 10 or 12. How to cook, how to do their own laundry, and how a vacuum and a mop works. Life was much better for mom and dad, the boys didn't die, and the boys learned skills that would serve them in life and got to feel a sense of accomplishment. And when I say cook, I mean complete meal prep, not opening a can of soup. Sauces, spice combinations, baking, use of the stove, oven, and microwave. Balanced healthy meals.

I'm amazed by the number of parents who don't prepare their children for life.

Do you really think most mothers are cooking for their adult children as their primary source of food?

Microwaves and Microwave foods exist for a reason. Then there is take outs. Snack foods. Potato chips.

There's no shortage of food. Might not be healthy food. Or homecooked.

Now... take away farmers and people who know how to grow, kill and prepare food for the masses? Then we got a problem!
