I was meeting with my case manager earlier. We often talk about what we did over the weekend. She started laughing uncontrollably, and said that her, and her son whent to six flags. They went on a roller coaster, and he passed out briefly near the end of the ride. I was sort of laughing because I thought it was a commen thing that most people found funny. I didn't really find it funny, but I laugh when I'm uncomfortable. She said "I'm a mean mother". I was just like "well... I don't know".

Whoa, that's kind of a messed up thing for your case manager to do, dude. I mean, laughing about her own son passing out on a roller coaster? That's not cool at all. Even if it's something that's considered "common" or "funny" to some people, it's still a pretty serious situation.
The fact that she called herself a "mean mother" after telling you about it is also really concerning. That just shows she knows on some level that it wasn't appropriate to be laughing about it. I can understand why you felt uncomfortable and didn't really know how to respond.
Honestly, I wouldn't feel bad about not finding it funny. That's a pretty messed up thing to laugh about, especially with a client. As a case manager, she should be setting a professional, caring tone, not making light of potentially dangerous situations involving her own kid.
I'd keep an eye out for any other instances where she seems to lack empathy or makes inappropriate comments. That kind of behavior from someone in a position of authority and responsibility is really concerning. You might even want to consider bringing it up to her supervisor if it continues.
At the end of the day, you deserve to have a case manager who is compassionate, understanding and maintains proper boundaries. Laughing about her son passing out is just totally unprofessional and kind of disturbing. Trust your instincts on this one, dude. That wasn't cool at all.
Yeah it is. If he passed out and didn’t wake up, she would feel awful for laughing. If he threw up while on roller coaster, then laughing at that is fine cause it’s common. Passing out on a roller coaster aren’t common and they sometimes aren’t good
What should I do? I feel like I should take some kind of action.
Probably just apologize to her. And make her realize that him passing out could’ve turned out bad and there she laughing thinking it’s a joke until it’s not. Some people can’t handle the speed of a roller coaster and pass out because of it
Very messed up
