My brother in law & his wife had problems with their kids this last year. One kid of 8 was running around hitting kids with a stick, the kid's mother could see and did nothing and when someone tried to talk to her about she fobbed it off as kids playing and when an adult took the stick off the child she lost her shit shouting and threatening the police until the parent left with her kids. My brother in law's wife daughter got hit and she just sent his 10 year old in to sort the boy out, the mother freaked and she just kept saying it's just rough play and if she touches her boy that she will call the police. I witnessed this, seemed like karma and when she said "maybe next time put manners on your kid least he get a beating again" was so right. Scottish women don't mess about.

Another incident was bullying in school &online bullying of their elderly daughter by another girl. My brother in law went to the house of the girl doing the bullying and her mother answered the door. She denied everything and started verbally abusing him threatening the police. She then sent the police to their door and he got a warning for harassment. The bullying continued & the girl was met by her two of my niece's cousins in a bathroom at the mall. The bullying stopped after that.

Never, because the ones that are being bullied always sees life from a different perspective. That's why as a parent you must have a close relationship with your children (not just father/mother relationship but a friendly kind of relationship that they will feel safe telling things that are happening to them). And also teach them how to wave off bullies...

We have always watched our child closely when playing in a park or play ground. I think you can never be careful enough, even if it means we were - and still are - overprotective. In the situations you describe, I would be the one to call the police.

14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it with bullying a contributing factor. Therefore, I worry over what happens a million times every year. I don't worry if something occurs a few times every 30 years.

It would be best if there were no pedophiles but if they exist without action, they are not a concern.

Depends on the extent and type of bullying. Once I know that I would decide to intervene or not and see how they handle the situation. Either case it's a teachable moment for them to work it out themselves or for me too intervene.

I don't tolerate bullying at any age. If someone started bullying my kid I will definitely step in and end it. I taught both of my kids how to defend themselves when I'm not around. I made sure they understood that the other person must make the first move before they lay the person out.

Bullying was rife at the school i was at. If you stood up for yourself the school came down hard on you especially if your Bullying was non-white or Muslim all while the headmaster claimed the school had a zero tolerance policy to Bullying but ignored Bullying reports

Before I respond, I took a quick glance at your profile to see what location and generation you say you are from. I can relate to what your saying... The Bullying that happened to me started a little in the 5th grade, but got really bad in the 6th grade, and I got mistreated until I graduated High School! There must be something about my personality cause I still get mistreated today. Back when I went to school it was 1986 to 1999. Out of that time, I put up with buying for 8 years. The odd thing was, those bullies could do it to me and another person right in the middle of History class. The teacher acted as if she never noticed, and by the end even praised one of bullies saying He was a good student. They were dangerous. I remember one of the big boys, sitting in the locker room throwing a combination lock up against the shower tiles for the fun of it. My era was before schools started going to 0 bully tolerance. If you ask me, if they would of started correcting that sort of thing earlier maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today. Now my former school has a police officer on staff. I'm not saying that my former school is worse than any other school. I'm just pointing out how bad things have gotten. They can say that there is zero tolerance for bullies all they want. But they won't or can't enforce it, it is just words on paper. <3

I was at a high school football game standing in line for concessions with my mom when I was in junior high. I saw a girl I knew from grade school (she was a year older than me) and said "there's that weird kid" to one of her friends. My mom heard her and said, "I'm that weird kid's mother, and I think you have a smart mouth." I saw someone mention "mama bears" and I guess that was a "mama bear" moment for her.
