People say having a nice personality is what matters to get friends I feel I come across people who judge me because I’m not super attractive or have an exciting job they just cut the convo short and seem disinterested no matter how hard to try
1 yYou may not like this answer but...
1.) Yes, those who win the genetic lottery have an advantage. Numerous studies have shown that physically attractive people are generally felt to also be smarter and have better leadership skills than they actually possess. You're not gonna change that.
2.) Yes, those people who are lucky enough to be born into wealth get the same sort of advantage as the beautiful people. Society has trained us to believe that money is an indicator of success, status, and intelligence. Even when it absolutely isn't, LOL.
3.) Likewise, society trains us to respect titles. So titles like CEO, Doctor, Attorney, PhD in Physics, Professor, Astronaut, General, Senator, etc confer some degree of achievement and experience that most people never achieve. That automatically makes them more interesting. Even if they're complete assholes, LOL.
So if you haven't done anything with your life to distinguish yourself and you weren't born beautiful and you weren't born into wealth, you'll have to work harder to get attention.
Is it enough to be a good person, intelligent, and moral / ethical with empathy? Well there are a lot of shallow stupid people out there who are easily sucked in by physical beauty, wealth, and status. You're gonna have to learn to weed them out and surround yourself with people who will value YOU. That's just the way it is.

Unfortunately this is an ugly truth about the world, but probably the western world more than anything. People do largely judge others by the way they look, the job they have, or the possessions they have, instead of looking at a person's character and actions. Humans are shallow beings, very surface level, very carnal and interested in things that appear glamorous.
However having a nice personality does help to get friends, you have to be outgoing and not afraid to talk to people.

People will come up with any number of lame excuses for their failures in life, and that is a common one.

1 yI don't know, it could be. But you've got to realize that society is largely full of shit. They'll condemn the farmer who feeds them and uplift the computer programmer that censors their facebook account. They'll look down on the janitor or garbage man who keeps them safe from horrible medieval diseases. They'll uplift the "influencer" dancing around acting like a moron on tic tock. Do you really want to play their stupid games?

1 yNo. I treat everyone with the same level of respect. My beautiful CFO gets the same respect as the average (i will never call someone "ugly") cleaning lady for the building. We all come from dirt and return to dirt when the world is done with us. Usually the lowest of society have the most compassion and reason for respect to be honest. Homeless people are almost always better company than BMW driving executives.

Stay off of social media and you might find your life to be more meaningful.10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. Yes, having a good job in a good company is important to have respect in society but looks really does not matter so much from the perspective of society.

1 yNope. You can be respected in society without having either of those things.
As long as you're reasonably happy, trying to help the world, and you're being authentic to yourself; most people will generally respect you.

I wouldn't go around trying to please rich people and attractive people if I were you. The Bible says rich people go to Hell anyway, so it's not the sort of folks you want to hang out with.
00 ReplyInteresting job, I don’t wanna be bored at work… and respect idc much about it people would be disrespectful anyways if they wish to so 🤷🏾♀️

1 yYou need to be a bad whore not a good woman to be loved and be safe. Otherwise you have to rely on divine intervention. All faith in humanity is lost.
11 ReplyIn a small scale sense, yes. You are unable to get a girlfriend, or boyfriend, depending on your choice, if you look like a rhinoceros. You will be unable to get said partner if you live off of your mother for support.
00 ReplyFor men it's good looking and or rich and or have an interesting job. For women it's turn up and be pleasant.

Are you an afraid of being social or just choose not to? For what it’s worth, I’m not a very sociable person
1 yIt matters more for men. Doesn't really matter for women. Unless you are abnormally unattractive, most people do not care.

Opinion Owner1 yI think you're looking at it the wrong way. Learn to cultivate a solitary life. I learned a long time ago to know what my boundaries are and to not allow people to cross them. This teaches them to respect you. But outside of that to learn to take what people give you and not to put your own expectations on them. If a deep friendship evolves from that, cool. But if not no big deal.
