About 4 1/2 years ago my mom called me a d asked me to come pick her up.

She was living with my sister and nephew.
Anyway something happen she wanted to move wanted me to help her to find a place to live
I couldn't do that because she has Dementia I told her if she really want to move she was going to have to come to my house that's the only thing I could do or put her in a home. And I wasn't going to do that to her.

So to answer your question is yes
She passed away in June it will be 1 year ago

It was the hardest job I have ever had in my like the last 18 months of her life was a challenge for me I Thank God for me being me and understanding and patience. And seeing things different than most people
Raising my kids was easier than raising a 89 year old that was now 5 years old with a mind of her own that would come and go and blank anyway yes I would I Promised her that I would not ever take her and put her into a home and I promised her that she would not die alone.. I hold up to my promises and I made the last part of her life. A good life
I just about lost everything but by the grace of God and his blessing its was crazy hard but made it through that moment in time to this day and the rest of all my days

My mother died when I was 4, and my father also passed away somewhere in the nineties. My father has remained a stranger to me, and I did not have the time to really know my mother.

The question is actually painfully excellent, because my wife and I took care of my father's sister, my aunt, when she lost the capacity of taking care of herself. Instinctively my wife and I knew the significance of the saying: "one must be a man when there's no man anymore..."

What I'm trying to say is that, although my father behaved with his kids as an criminal idiot, in case of real emergency, yes, I have to confess that I still would probably have taken care of him (and of my biological mother of course), with the help of my now deceased wife. On the other hand, my father's second wife, thus my stepmother, the answer is definitely, no ! No one is perfect. Nothing to be proud of...

@Melanie31 I just returned from Atlanta, burying my only brother in a Military cemetery. I took care of him as much as possible, helping him get into the bathroom, using a walker, helping him brush his teeth, shaving him, washing his face and hands, getting his hair cut in his home. I guess I could have done the same for my parents.

My brother died of Cancer.

I will and have. I have had help my parents finically and physically let need a ride somewhere like giving dad a ride to and home for a hernia surgery.
