Why do some parents beat or whoop their children? Is talking to the child a better way to discipline?

Not saying you should beat your kids, but some kids, just like people in general, don’t understand anything other than violence. There are people who won’t stop their bs until you punch their face and beat their ass. Then they’ll respect you and even want to be friends. I went to school with people like this.

Yes, you should talk to your kids but that’s not enough. No, you should not beat your kids. Don’t do that. But many kids don’t care or listen no matter how many times you talk or explain or discuss so that’s not enough. They also need consequences and to be punished. Gentle parenting has been popular for years now and it has made kids assholes. They’re so bad that teachers quit their jobs and have nightmares at night. The kids are rude, violent, selfish, don’t listen and don’t care about anything. If you go on youtube or tiktok you’ll see so many teachers and former teachers tell you how bad it is and how it’s become like this recently. It’s the kids who’s been raised with gentle parenting. And yeah, I know the standard for gentle parenting parents is to crawl out of their caves and say ”ThAt’S NoT gEnTLe PaRenTing tHaT’S PeRmIsSivE pArEnTiNg” whenever gentle parenting is criticized. Yeah ok Amanda tell yourself that.

''Discipline'' begins with understanding the necessity of certain things. To do them, or not to do them.

When some parents (or others ''in charge'') fail in parenting this is usually because their own parenting anchors have failed as well. Add a weakness in the school system (or societal system) that (also) failed to transmit parenting skills.

to beat someone... means to repeatedly hit someone to the point of injury, which is an excess

it is different from that physical form of discipline in which you might spank a little kid

one is a controversial form of discipline, but to whoop a child is abuse, and abusive parents do that, usually and more often than not, because they were abused the same way by their parents or their partners
