How important to you is your own birthday? Have you always felt the same, or have your thoughts and feelings on your birthday changed over the years? How have your family and friends contributed to your feelings about your birthday?

It's relatively important to me. At the very least I can say I survived another year. And I'm pretty suicidal (yes I'm seeing a therapist and taking meds blah blah blah please don't lecture me) so being one year closer to death brings me a sort of morbid dark comfort. 😌
As a kid though it was definitely MUCH different. It was basically the best day of the entire year. I felt like I was on top of the fucking world.
I gradually began to care less and less about my birthday though about after age 9. Age 9 was my last truly amazing birthday, as well as probably my best one of all.
I never really had many friends but my parents tried their best at least.
I'm in the ignore category the older I get. I mean it's nice if someone remembers and says happy birthday. But I don't eat cake, LOL. And I don't need more stuff. And I don't like being the center of attention. And frankly, age ain't nuthin but a number. According to my doctor my biological age is around 40. I'm good with that gift.
Very important. I get to celebrate, have cake, & be surrounded by positive energy 🤗 Lots of love and hugs from everyone
I always take at least 1 week of leave.
I grew up with them being important. When it was my birthday my sister would get presents ( not as big as mine) and I would on hers as well (not as big as hers)
I stopped getting excited about mine years ago. Once you get to 21, they have no real significance. Mine's coming up soon but beyond dinner with family, and maybe go see a movie or something with my boyfriend, it's a work day, and work early the next day.

It's a reminder that I'm one year closer to death's door but also to be thankful that I made it another year, beating the odds. So it's somewhat important to me.
I've seen more deaths in my life before my age than the average person so that's why I'm saying I beat the odds. There were a few times I actually could have died.
Not very, but it is the same day as the U. S. A. celebrates Independence so it would be hard to forget even if I wanted to do so.
My birthday also falls on a major holiday. That definitely makes it worse, in my opinion.
I don't really care that much about it but I like getting at least one gift and acknowledgement that at least someone gives a shit about me lol
Birthdays are for kids. To me, it's just another day.
Not that big of a deal. As long as we go out to eat and my wife makes me my favorite cake I am good. That is usually what we do.
I give myself a vacation when it's my birthday. 💕💯
It never was for me a big deal. I had friends that made a big deal out of their own each year. Throwing a party and shit.
My birthday being celebrated shows how many people care about my existence in their lives... sadly i end up spending my birthday alone...
