Three guys from an old school out of the country contacted me to be their friends when they come to the United States. They didn’t know anyone else but me. They didn’t want to waste their parents money because of loneliness and not being able to cope in a new country. I accepted and helped them. Mostly talked to them. They became accustomed and we kept in touch for years. Recently I learned that they are somewhere online laughing at me that they only talked to me because they were lonely. Now I regret helping them. I was there as a friend, helped when and where i could I thought I was being a good human being by helping people adjust to a new life. Now they’re laughing at me saying they were lonely. lol let me stop being nice

It seems that those guys indeed misused your generosity to assist them while they were in your country.

The question however is: How did they contact you? Through which platform? If it was a platform that is not reliable and that has bad critics, then you indirectly played their game and you bear a certain responsibility.

I also don't understand why you would trust total strangers and moreover, only men. All alarm bells should have been ringing and you should have kept your fingers off in the first place.

Nonetheless, you thought you did them a favor and I hope you learned your lesson not to trust men to behave in a civil way.

They weren’t really strangers. We knew each other from school but weren’t friends. They contacted me on fb telling me they were coming as international students and they didn’t know anyone. College is expensive and they are in a foreign country so I understood. Imagine spending millions to not finish your degree because you couldn’t cope. So I understood. These are 4.0 gpa kind of guys so I didn’t mind acting like friend until they make some. Keep in mind they didn’t come at once. There are years in between those 3. I thought I was a friend to them. We laughed about their experiences. It’s only guys cause those are the only ones who came with no family. The girls we talked on occasion

You just met shitty people. You were nice and these assholes just abused that. Don't let that stop you from continuing to be nice, but be careful because most people take advantage of good people.

After thinking about it I think they just trying to be cool and make fun of me. Probably mad I didn’t want to date them. From what I heard it’s a group of them mad over there that I didn’t take them seriously lol

Sucks that you’re being nice but they want to use it to make themselves look more than what they are. If it wasn’t for me none of them would still be in this country. Anyway my days of helping are over
