Why dont grandparents take care of their grandkids in the US?

Grandparents are retired, do nothing at home all day. Why not take care of grandkids? Why send your grandkids to daycares where they are at risk of being abused by strangers? The reason why having kids is considered too expensive nowadays really boils down to lack of family support in raising children. There is a saying "it takes a village to raise a child". In america, there is no village but just 2 parents

The likelihood of abuse at a daycare is extremely low. Daycares allow kids to socialize with each other and form friendships. At infancy, the argument can be made, but once the kid is old enough to be attending daycare, then socializing with peers is important.

No, but I was at one and was never abused. My sister was at one and never abused. All 4 of my cousins went to one and were never abused. We also all went to different ones.

I don't have clear memories, but abuse scars you for life. I am not, and while my sister is, she knows what happened and when. It was long after she was in daycare.

Mostly because it's not their responsibility. Sure it would be nice, but they don't owe parents that privilege. Besides there are other factors at play here like distance and strained relationships.

Still, that doesn't entitled parents to enslave their parents into watching their kids. The parents are responsible for finding care for their children. If that means the grandparents watch them, then fine. If it means daycare, fine.

What are you talking about? Parents are arrested all the time for abuse or neglect of their children unless they sign away rights. They are also responsible for their children's actions.

Grandparents do not bear that responsibility unless they become legal guardians. Not sure what kind of agenda you are trying to push here, but it's not correct.
