Why would a mom try to get everyone she knows to hate her daughter? She lies and gossip on her daughter?

I'd say the mom has some serious issues if she's trying to ruin her own daughter's reputation. Most women who do this sorta thing tend to also have a habit of gossiping and telling their friends/family about anything they may have heard; true or false, and unfortunately, this may also include anything recently that might've happened with their kids.

Now I'm not saying they're deliberately trying to sabotage their kids' reputation by doing so, but most of the people they confide in don't really have their best interests at heart and would spread the rumor around until everyone knows it, which is where the harm comes in.

Tell her upfront about it and how it's affecting you. Ideally catch her in the act and ask her calmly why she's doing, what she's doing.

If she denies and/or apologizes, accept it but give her the benefit of the doubt and stop sharing anything personal with her like that. If she realizes what she's doing is wrong, she'll stop

Some mothers like some fathers are very terrible and genuinely seem to hate their own kids. Arguably, those sorts of people chose to become parents in the first place because they wanted the status of being parents aka the respectability, without the responsibility or love.

My mother and sister did that to me growing up. Luckily I was adopted by my uncle when I was 13. Your mother has issues but remember they are her issues not yours. I know it still hurts though.
