Obviously some would assume that I mean unmarried women but Im talking about married women putting their kids in daycare when the husband is able to provide

It depends what age they are, and what your professional possibilities and financial possibilities are.

In our case, we raised our child until the age of 3, because at the time one of us was working from home. From 3 years onwards, we thought it was better for our child to be in daycare and have more contact with other children.

Well, personally me and my husband plan on having me stay home with our kids. I'm kinda skeptical of the quality of most day cares, but sending your kid to a daycare you've vetted for a few hours during the week well you work is not neglect.

Daycares barely do anything, they just make sure your kids aren't playing in traffic, you still need to raise your own kids.

It’s making sure they’re cared for when you have to go out and get the means to do so yourself. It’s just the modern equivalent of getting another mother in the tribe to watch them while you go foraging/hunting.

It's actually less like getting another mother to take care of your kids because the focus is never on your kid it's on a large group and they end up being a bunch of unmanageable brats with no respect for their parents

Not many people can afford to take the stay-at-home parenting route.

Not being able to feed and clothe your child because you would rather not work would be a form of neglect, though.

Neglecting them would be if you left your baby/toddler home alone all day when you’re at work. Putting them in daycare is not neglect. Neither is getting a babysitter. That’s the point - daycare/babysitters/nannies are there to make sure the child is not neglected when the parent have other things to do.

That doesn’t make any sense dude. I don’t have any kids but I also recognize that not everyone can afford stay-at-home parenting. I’m not sure how having a job would equate to neglect, or spending some hours of the day apart being a lack of connection. I’m sure many parents would rather not send their kids to daycare if they could afford it. @Abbycado what’s your take on this madness?

Because you are literally having someone else raise them for over half of the waking hours of the day. If your kids are being influenced by someone else for a majority of the waking hours, then they are raising them, not you. Also, daycare just makes sure they are alive. They don't teach them.

@jahaims respectfully dude I disagree. Not everyone works 9-5, many only have them there from 9-12 (one of my aunts has this schedule for reference), I wouldn’t call that the majority of their waking hours. Same goes for people who only need daycare a few days a week when they literally have to work. You said yourself that daycare doesn’t teach them (which to me would be the actual form of neglect), yet they do learn skills at daycare. Of course not each one is the same but at least the ones in my state have a structured schedule. If you read the prior conversation and awesomesauce was unable to address what else parents who have jobs should do with their kids during those hours? Just not work at all or what?

Also, children can be influenced by almost anyone they spend even a few hours of the week with, like certain family members or even a teacher. I wouldn’t say all those people are directly raising them.
