Do any of you still call the parents of your childhood friends Mr. and Mrs? Did you ever? What about adult neighbors?

I realized I still do. I ran into the parents of an old friend and called them, "Mr. and Mrs. Anderson." When I talk about old neighbors, I refer to them as Mr. and Mrs.

Oh yes. I call just about everyone in this area Mr/Mrs. Just the way we were raised, I guess. 😊

And once it becomes habit, you'll never change it. Even if they say it's okay to call them by their first name's.

I had mentioned that in a comment to another opiner. It's just the way it is. I've seen teachers in bars and felt ashamed of myself lol I grew up in a small town like you.

Yes. Just a week ago I called a long time friend and her mom saw it was me calling, so she answered. I recognized her voice and immediately said, "HI, Mrs. Worgall"! I called all parents Mr. and Mrs. There was only one neighbor couple that I remember calling them Mr. and Mrs. My brother's were friends with their two sons, so they called them by their first name's but I never did. All other neighbors I remember using their first name's.

I don't know most of my friends parents but those few I do know are on first name terms

Only my friend in exotic rentals dad is known as Mr surname because I can't pronounce his first name

Absolutely, why wouldn't I? The age difference is still the same.

As soon as you turn 15 all the dads are like, "call me Tom..."

Yes I do and always did, as a small child neighbours were addresed and referred to as Aunt and Uncle,,,

What's funny, is I think they're used to it or appreciate it, because none of them have told me to call them by their first name's lol Kind of like teachers, it's just Mr. or Mrs.

One of my childhood friends parents tell me to call them by their first names now but I feel funny doing it. So I usually don’t address them by their first names at all I just say “hi how are you “. And avoid it.
