Would You Allow Your Partners Parent, Or Your Parent To Move In With You?

Our parents give us life and look after us until we are adults, and sometimes like myself even longer.

Now we have our own homes and families, would you look after your partners parent or your parent that is struggling to live by themselves?

Or would you make alternative arrangements for the parents?

Or perhaps you have already made this decision?

What is your opinion?

A. I would allow my partners single parent, or my parent to live in my home, or I have already allowed them to live with us.

B. I would make alternative arrangements for my partners parent or my parent, or I have already made these arrangements.

C. Something else.

My mother was living with my sister. She had dementia, Alzheimer's and dementia, she wanted to move away from there. And she wanted me to find her a place to live, I told her I couldn't do that, because I wouldn't allow her to be on her own, so I told her she could move in with me.

She brought me into the world. She took care of me for sixteen and a half years

It's the least I can do to make the last parts of her life happy for her

The last parts of her life the last 18 . months we're a little bit more difficult

But the name of the game is patience and laughter the last six months of her life was the hardest job i've ever had to do in my life but at least I know she died at peace and happy

I promi.\nSe , I would never put her in a home i think that one of the cruelest things you could do , especially with somebody with alzheimer's dementia

I left her home when I was 16 1/2. I would see her on Christmas , Thanksgiving or Easter or my have dinner

My mom didn't know much about me. Except for all the crap that my sister would tell her mostly rumors are rumors that I made up\nBecause every Christmas Thanksgiving or Easter dinner , everybody would confront me about the rumors , and I would laugh because they were so far out there , it was just craziness

So at the end of her time , i made her some lunch, and she told me there was something she had to tell me.
And she said, I was the best man that she ever met in her life,
everything that I've been about, you was not right? You're the complete opposite. You're so gentle, so nice, so caring and all you do is give it.
I've watched it and I am so proud of you. You make me so proud. She said , I am glad you are my son and i'm glad that I got you and who you really are living here with was the best choice and you were right.

My partners parents are dead, happy for them to move in.
I would rather not live with my parents again, but would let them if it were the only option

I absolutely would let my mom stay with us if needed. She took care of me when I was younger, let me move back in when I was attending college and has always supported me through my life with conviction.

As for my wife's family. Her step dad and step mom could stay. Her bio mom is dead so no issue there. Her bio dad can stay the hell away though. He is a liar and serial cheater and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our kids (not that he has even bothered to get to know them anyway).

For me, that's a "No! No!" especially when I can easily afford to provide them separate housing elsewhere.

My home with my husband is our domain and the dynamic within should never be interrupted by guests even if he/she/they are family.

It's the right thing to do. They need and deserve to be taken care of.

I couldn't live with myself if I had a home for them to live in and I didn't take them in and care for them.

I could never allow them to have strangers who would do God knows what to them.

At least I would know for sure that they would be taken good care of on my watch.

If I married someone, their parents are my parents. We’re family. It’s an absolute yes with open arms and home.

Yes, if it was necessary both ways. It's reality, our parents are getting older and are starting to need more support.

My mother needed surgery and we had her live at my house for a month or so. It was not fun but she was my mother and I had to do it

Yes. If we could provide what they needed then i would of course do it. Its family

yes I would. after seeing what a nursing home is like and experiencing people taking advantage of your loved one I most definitely would.

I had a mother-in-law and an uncle move into my home when they began hospice care. Otherwise, no.
