Rang my girlfriend to be nice to ask her how she is and how her day is going her son (13) answered said she's in the shop and he'll let her know that I rang... anyways 3 hours later she texts me whats wrong im really quiet today

I said sure I rang you earlier and James said he's let you know I rang and she said well obviously he forgot and I was like yeah I didn't say he did it on purpose- then she said its not the end of the world and no big deal and I got annoyed do I have any right to be?

Just i feel its lie straight up defence for her son in my eyes

You have a right to feel whatever comes naturally to you. Feelings are human. You don’t have the right to take them out on others, especially a kid. Whether he did it on purpose or not, you’re the adult. Lowering your behavior to meet that of a petulant child makes you a petulant child. Grow up and act like a man.
Frankly, you get what you deserve when you date a single mother. If you expect to be a priority, you’re expecting too much. If you’re not at least part masochist, you’re never going to find fulfillment in that relationship. But if you insist, you have to be a bigger man than to start petty fights over a teenager’s perfectly expectable borderline behavior.

The downside of dating a single mom; if she "feels" that her children are being attacked, she will defend them. If she perceives you as the attacker, child wins and you lose, every single time there is a conflict.

I get where you’re coming from, it just comes off kinda rude for her to be like “well obviously he forgot”, “it’s not the end of the world”. It’s like she took it as you making some sort of accusation against him and needed to defend him when really you were just answering her question. And you were polite about it, so I don't know what her deal is.
