Do some parents actually hate their kids instead of showing tough love?

My two sisters and I both had to deal with the same from our Mom. We were just sources of income for her, slaves that did all the cleaning and cooking, and we all took a lot of physical and mostly emotional abuse...

Thankfully she recently died and we all feel intense releif. No more false accusations and bullshit that was still going on even though we were adults already.

I'm not sure if it was hate, but it was like being resented for being alive. We were nothing but burdens for her.

Yes!! For YEARS, my dad HATED me!!! I got on my bike one day to go to a record store 4 miles away and as I rode away from the front of the house, dad said to me that he hopes I get hit with a car! Grandma (mom's mom) was sitting next to him when he said it and yelled at him for it and told him, "That kid's gonna carry you, some day!!" And, she was right!! In his final decade or so, I DID help him out a lot!! And, after he died, I was a pall bearer for him!! And, had I known how before he died, I would've cured his cancer for him and he might even still be alive today, 20 years later!!
I remember that, at some point, he got hit in the head pretty badly by accident, possibly a brick falling, maybe a plank of wood. I don't recall, anymore but, I did what I could to help him!! Had the hate gone the other way, who knows? I might've let him bleed to death!

Yes, sadly some parents really do hate their kids. To others kids are just an inconvenience, something to be tolerated. And it's pretty hard to tolerate kids if you don't love them, because kids are stroppy and destructive.

My youngest sister had one and after her hubby died a few years later, she had to raise the kid by herself but, NOTHING was gonna stop her from getting what she wanted! Even when he was 5 or 6, if she had a party to go to or wanted to go out drinking, she'd leave him at home by himself rather than hire a babysitter!!
