This subject has annoyed me all my life.

As far as I am concerned there is only one correct way of fitting a toilet roll, like the one fitted in the photo.

But everytime I go to a hotel the toilet roll is the wrong way with roll unwinding next to the wall.

Am I right, or can you please explain why you fit the toilet roll your way?

A. The toilet roll in the photo is correct, winding away from the wall.

B. The toilet roll in the photo is the wrong way, and should be winding towards the wall.

C. Something else.

I'm very surprised the poll is predominantly one-sided because I've not come across that in real life.

But perhaps the "Something else" vote would say it doesn't matter which way the toilet roll is put on the holder, though even with their vote, the poll is still heavily in favour of the toilet toll in the photo being the correct way lol.

Or, hopefully this question has made people realise the error of their ways 🙂

I've asked the same question years ago.

When my late boyfriend and I were living together, he would do it the wrong way and I would have to feel under there until I could grab it. It was against the wall and up so I couldn't see any toilet paper 🧻 to grab onto.

So, I would switch it back the right way because that's how I put it on.

Then he would switch it back to the wrong way and then I would switch it back!

One of the members opinions said "You two deserve each other." 😂😂

The photo shows the correct way. That way you can easily see and grab the end, pull out the exact length you want, and hold the roll to tear it off.

The other way is a sign of mental illness. 😂

My wife is the type of person who doesn't pay attention and puts the rolls on either way. When she does it wrong, I have to fix it.

The original US patent for toilet paper shows it as such, and is the only correct way to mount it. If you have a cat, you are allowed an exception.

If you hang it backwards, you are evil, or own a cat.

In most cases, I think you are right. But if you have a mischievous cat, the other orientation might make more sense.

I don't have a cat now as my wife is allergic to cats. I never had a cat who used the toilet but I had a few cats who would play with the toilet paper and unwind it until the roll was completely unwound.

If you separate both plus and pull one around the perforations won't line up and drive people nuts.

That is annoying too, but if you separate the pieces, and turn one piece back the other way, you are left with 2 single pieces. Then the perforations will line up, and you can use the roll as normal.

I heard once that US Military standard is rolling towards the wall. Apparently it conserves supplies. I'm not sure if that is true.

I was just talking about this with my friend the other day from the site. You put the toilet paper. where you pull it from the bottom not the top. Where it isn’t getting in the way. It’s easy to rip
