Why parents lie to their kids about their attractiveness?

I dont see a problem admitting one is not beautiful, same way one may not be musically talented etc

I think a parent's job is to be supportive. If a person is ugly, they're gonna have enough people hurting their feelings throughout their lives. Their parent should just keep quiet in that situation and help their child find solutions to whatever obstacles they face.

It is due to instinct, protection, and love. What looks like “lying” from the outside is often something much more layered.
