Do you have a big family or a small family?

It was just my mom, dad, me and one sister who is three years younger. She has a daughter.
My parents are no longer with us but my sister and I are very close, even though she and her daughter live over 8 hours away.

I am no longer close to any of my cousins or their families who live a long way away. Our families were very close when my aunts and uncles were alive and lived nearby.

My wife has lots of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. She is very close to several of them even though they live over 2000 miles away. They are good people.

My Immediate family is pretty small, two parents and one brother

But my extended family is large enough that I don’t even know everyone by name
At least on my Dad’s side.

On my mom’s side it’s pretty big as well but relatively smaller when compared

Most Chinese families are small because China had the one child policy for over 30 years where you were only allowed one child. But if you count aunts and uncles and cousins and second cousins and third cousins and my uncles cousins and my aunts cousins then I have a huge extended family.

My mom and dad and brother and I growing up. 2 uncles on my dad's side, 3 of my mom's half-brothers. I have my son and his adopted half brother and I only have 3 cousins, then my sister-in-law and a nephew. It's kinda small I guess.

extended family... I have a ton of uncles and aunts... hundreds of cousins, and they have thousands of offspring as well..

There was 7 kids in our house when I was growing up. So yes it was a big family. Two girls 5 boys. These days though I only see one brother regularly & my only sister 6-8 times a year as she lives 6 hours drive away. One I haven't seen since my oldest brother passed away 2 years ago. The other 2 I don't know where they live & haven't seen then in 10 - 15 years.

I have two sisters and 1 niece and 10 first cousins. I’m not particularly close to any of my first cousins though. I haven’t been fighting with them they just live in different states than me.
