I think my friend stole money from me?

One of my friends slept over last night and for some reason after she left I went and checked my wallet. I'm positive there's 20 bucks missing. I'm nott sure what to do?

So basically what should I do. I don't think she'd fess up to it. I'm thinking of walking over to her house right now and asking to see her wallet. Cause last night she said she had no money at all. So she shouldn't have any now right?

I told her I was missing 20 bucks outta my wallet.

Later in the conversation, she said she didn't even have a 20 dolllar bill in her wallet right now.

Thing is, I never told her it was a 20 dollar bill that was missing.

And it was. how would she know it wasn't 2 fives and a ten, or 4 fives? Probably because she took it?

That really sucks! I've had people I though I could trust steal from me, I know your anguish. Problem with money, is unless you've recorded the serial numbers, you can't prove you had it. And your friend wouldn't have to cooperate anyway. And if you're wrong about her stealing, you've damaged a friendship. But there's a chance direct confrontation would get her to fess up and give your money back.

Here's what you can do, next time the two of you are together, complain to her while you where outside yesterday some one stole money from you and how glad you are she "is so reliable", watch closely her reaction, if she squirms or looks uncomfortable, you know you got her, then you be bring it up to her.

Answer to update: that would work, and if she refuses at least you know. Assuming she meant she had no money at all even in a bank and couldn't of stopped by an ATM. Either way, she's showing herself to be not much a friend.

Well if you have siblings you need to see if they took it. if you don't and no one else steals, and it happened that night. Then you know for sure she did it. I'd be blunt with her and ask her about it. A friend who steals isn't a real 'friend' to begin with.

You can't prove it, even if you go through her wallet (which you have no right to do). The BEST you can do is ask her and hope she fesses up. If you're so sure she stole it, though, you cannot trust her again. IF you see her again, which I would suggest cutting all ties, but IF you see her again, you know you can't trust her not to touch your stuff. Be smart and cut her off at the chase next time.

Dude, you say $20 and people assume it's a twenty. That's so circumstantial it's insulting. If that's ALL you have on her, you're a terrible friend and she deserves better.

first make sure if it isn't *lost* inside your bag or if someone else living with you took it. just make sure of it first, or you would be accusing an innocent.

but if she did, or she isn't really your friend or must be in a really messed up situation.

If you're not mad to the point of wanting to like, end the friendship or whatever, then just confront her in a non accusatory way and let her know you aren't judging, you just can't be down that 20 bucks.

Hey, some people would forgive a good friend. Whatever- in any case, you don't really have hard evidence against her, so there's no way to make her fess up. I think the best way regardless of the state of your relationship is to be nice about it. If you go after her really accusingly, she's going to be embarrassed and less likely to confess. @your update, I don't think that's really proof of anything.

Idk, she's kind of a skid. And when she left I got this weird feeling that she took something. So I went upstairs and looked around, and then went through my wallet. There may not be proof that she did it, but there's also no proof that she didn't. No point being friends with someone I can't trust. I don't wanna risk losing something else.

I'm not trying to convince you to be friends with her, I'm just telling you what I think the best way to try to get your money back is. And that it's probably unlikely she's going to give it to you since you don't have proof.

I say try looking around for it. This has happened to me, but only with a family member which is worse ._. Don't want to go straight into accusing but after you look for it, reminisce on the last place you left it which you say your wallet, then I say just politely be like "Aye you've seen my $20 when you were here, can't seem to find it." Now she'll admit it(which I highly doubt) or lie about it..she mostly likely 'did take it which is a shame. Can't trust no bitch.

Call her out. Start questioning. If you're sure that she stole it and she seems to be lying then it's best not to be friends with someone who steals from you.

I had 140 before I went on vacationa and I only spend at most 25. So when I got home yesterday I had like 115-120. Now I have 95-100.

Set her up. Put a hidden camera in your room and invite her over. Leave a few 20 dollar notes on the table and then leave the room for a few minutes saying you have to go to the bathroom. Then see what happens.
