I love this take. Personally I dress modestly and it's often very hard to find cute modest clothes but it is possible. Online shopping has saved me lol
I've never seen a girl get poopooed for covering up or getting pressured by peers.

@lord_chilled and @John_Doesnt rape obviously depends on culture. What part of culture is more debatable, but most obviously I think it's respect for women. If you look at the countries that stand out they're primarily countries in which there is generally a conflict going on or countries in which don't enjoy the same rights as men, certainly not the same status and are treated as "second class citizen" as they say.
Now I wouldn't have interrupted your conversation but being half Japanese it bothers me that you brought up women who presumably work in one of the "maid cafes" that you mentioned, as representative for women in Japan.
Those cafes sell fantasy. Think of them as Strip Clubs. And they are able to sell it so well because Japan is a deeply conservative culture. You will for example not see a lot of natives wearing bikinis because it's still seen as imodest. Men are still very much as breadwinner and women as homemakers. And even in Akiba people in general do NOT dress like
that.
And secondly the images you showed aren't even very revealing. They don't show much skin. As I said, they sell a fantasy and it's very scandalous for Japan maybe but I'd be fine with a skirt that length. Could do with a little longer but it's not too bad really

@lord_chilled you two didn't even bother to look up modern Japanese culture. You've just sat here and assumed they dress modestly without actually researching what the Japanese metropolitan areas are like. Women dress in cosplay all the time. It's a popular part of their culture now.

Yes those cafes and other places do exist in which women wear uniforms not unlike the picture you showed. And you will occasionally see cosplayers too but that is NOT representative of Japanese culture.
Sexually Japan might be one of the most repressed in the developed world.
Japanese women are some of the most educated in the world but only half of us are actually working and that's because traditional gender roles are still big in Japan.
As for why Japan as developed a love for those childlike, oddly dressed characters. Well it's complicated but as I said men are still seen as the main breadwinner and in a stagnating economy men can't always provide so they feel "not good enough" for real relationships and buy affection instead. Instead of having strip clubs, we have this. I don't think anyone is proud of it but it is what it is. But let's also not pretend that is representative
for Japanese women in general

Anyhow i did address your point when I said that I think the defining factor between cultures that have high and low rapes is how respected women are in that culture (excluding extraordinary circumstances such as war). Even assuming your chart is right, that tells us nothing about why it is that way. You can't just make an assumption and state is as a fact. it's your opinion that attitudes towards sex is the defining factor, well I disagree, I think it's attitudes towards women
