I honestly find long nails so disgusting. I feel really uncomfortable when my nails are long, the dirt that could get stuck between your skin and nail, ew. It's not only uncomfortable when that happens but also hard to get the dirt out (and if you don't, it builds up there). I saw this happening with my own eyes in a public space, she used a toothpick, it made me feel sick. I know people who have long nails and I feel nauseous when I'm around them. I tend to avoid them, just so I won't have to deal with that disgusting smell. No matter how painted they are, their nails stink. It's a weird strong disgusting smell. How can someone (especially many women who love to keep their nails long) not be bothered by this? For me it instantly means someone lacks basic hygiene. The white part is meant to be cut off once it surpasses the fingers.
I really hate the feeling of long nails. It's uncomfortable and unsanitary. Butt I don't mind them on others. If they aren't too long they can look good with some nail polish
As a man, women with long sharp or pointy nails turn me off. If they're squared proper length French manicured then that's fine. But women out here wearing colorful knives for nails and it's really disturbing.
Here in the UK it seems to be a big craze to have these acrilic nails glued on. I t amaes me how they cope with them. Eating using a phone and mostly going to the toilet (sorry a little gross) !!!
The picture you've chosen doesn't exactly do long nails any justice and I would agree those particular nails are unappealing. I have naturally long fingernails because mine are strong so aren't fragile or break easy. I can honestly say throughout my life I've only received compliments about them (they are not so long that I am unable to do anything with them abd I do trim them when they get to what I believe is too long). I do think a lot of the glued on fake nails are much too long though, and I don't know how anyone does anything wearing them.
The dirt thing you mentioned isn't really an issue. The dirt often clings between the skin and nail, so if you're washing your hands and being hygienic, you won't have dirt clinging under your nails and I've never heard of this smell thing (I think the people you're referring to just have bad hygiene as I've never heard of anyone using a toothpick and I've known people with super short nails to have dirty fingernails).
Of course not everyone finds them attractive and it's OK that you don't but for me I'm comfortable with them and I don't grow them this way just to appear more 'attractive'. Nails should only be kept to a length the person with them is comfortable with.
Dirt can't get under short nails because there is no gap between skin and nail. Washing hands doesn't remove the dirt with long nails, it gets stuck deep inside. I don't see what's so comfortable about worrying that dirt might fill the gap every time and that uncomfortable feeling when it does. Whatever you do bacteria will find it's place there and washing hands won't remove it. The picture I posted is literally how everyone's nails who didn't paint their nails look like when they're long and shower. If you don't shower it stays white, turning yellow eventually. It has nothing to do with strong or fragile. You'd see broken pieces if hers are fragile. Hers look pretty strong.
You do you, I'd assume you lack hygiene if I were to see you in real life.
Because strong nails can only be maintained on a nutritious diet. Longer nails need to be strong so they dont break. Men like seeing traits of fitness in women such as strong nails and healthy long hair for example. This way we can quickly visually gauge if a woman is getting all her vitamins and minerals so then we know she can be a suitable potential candidate to make babies with because it takes a lot of nutrients to grow a healthy baby in the womb. Thats the evolutionary psychology behind why its pretty. Also secondarily, if you are reading this far, more fit people are better quality, and better quality people get better treatment from society.
@yasii True, nails like hair is made from nutrients just like anything else in the body. Nutrient deficiences can cause weak and frail hair and nails, thats why shampoo has nutrients in it, because the hair cells their cellular membrane can accept nutrients through it, thus feeding the cell through topical appliance.
Most people don’t find them “attractive”. But it is a matter of personal taste. I think long nails are awesome and I personally have never experienced stinky nails. I really feel like that part is just in your imagination. Every woman that I know of who happens to wear long nails keep them clean.
if they're a little bit longer, i don't mind. they can be quite glamorous and cute. mine are very short, but i like to change it up a bit with fake nails sometimes. though they hurt like hell. one time i glued them on wrong, and each time i tried to pick anything up i felt like someone was pulling them off with skin and all.
I do like having a little longer nails. Try to keep them like in the picture. I just like how they look and it honestly feels like a victory if I can keep them this long without breaking them😂
I keep mine short where you can see the skin on my fingertips above it. It has to be that way for my guitar practice but i feel i function better in general with short nails. Im not scratching things by accident. It gets annoying typing on computers or phones with long nails, I don't know how some women do it lol.
I've known hundreds of women with long nails, or even short nails that barely pass the tips of their fingers. I've never once noticed an odor or smell from them, never. In fact, girls who spend time taking CARE of their nails, and toes, seem to have BETTER hygiene than those who don't. You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't believe a word of it about "long nails stink". You have a phobia, and it's affecting your other senses.

By long nails how long do you mean? I naturally have long strong nails and everyone compliments me and says everything I do looks so elegant - but low key it's the nails, it's not hard to keep them clean if you wash your hands normally like any other nails 😂. Aside from that I recommend doing chores with gloves on so your hands can stay healthy, harsh chemicals can erode the keratin over time.
I have long nails and they have never smelled... If you have good hand hygiene, it's a non-issue. Using a toothpick is a bad idea, a small nail scrubbing brush does the trick and they look rather nice when polished.
It's because it's feminine looking also I don't know what people your around but most nails don't stank especially long nails since people have to take care of them even more to even get them to that length it seem like you just got a phobia.
That could be coincidence, but otherwise I'm not sure, maybe those particular people don't keep their nails clean, maybe the smell is from something else. I work with 3 lovely ladies who all have long nails, now only one has natural long nails, but I've never smelled a foul scent off her
I actually have no idea, the only benefits would be to give a good back scratch I think 🤔

I’m prob in the minority with guys, but I love long manicured nails. I don’t so much like long natural unless she just really takes care of and baby them, but I do love nice long acrylics. It’s extremely elegant and sexy and I love having my body scratched by them too!
What kind of women are you around that their nails have an odor? You sure that's not just BO? Also usually shit doesn't build up if you wash your hands a lot.
I'd actually be cool with them being normal. If she likes them long fine. But long fingernails are just bothersome to me. and i would assume to her as well.
They elongate the fingers, which is elegant, and they imply a level of socioeconomic class (it's impossible to have long fingernails if you are regularly doing physical labor).
Thats why you clean your nails. My nails are never dirty because I clean them so often. I also don't mind cleaning them often throughout the day becasue it literally takes a few minutes.
I have yet to meet a person with long nails who doesn't carry around that disgusting smell. I'm pretty sure those I've met so far took care of them, yet still, smelly. Either you're used to the smell or my nose is very sensitive.
I have never had anyone complain about "smelly" nails and my friends are very open and honest AND I've had many people comment about how nice my nails are. There's a difference between cleaning your nails and ACTUALLY cleaning them.
