Some people are calling me gay or asexual because of my views on bikinis.
Hint, my sex drive is probably higher than all of yours, but unlike most of you, I think with the head on my shoulders not with what's between my legs, you don't just throw me a naked girl and order me to be aroused, because I'm not an animal and I have values and traditions that are more appealing to me than sheer cothing or appearance.

It's not immodest for guys, you can see shirtless guys on kids cartoons and nobody would even care, it's mostly not arousing so it's fine and acceptable, won't corrupt any young children.
But well if the guy is only wearing a trunk or something that barely covers their genitalia, then yeah I agree it shouldn't be a thing either.
Well, would you prefer women going back to what they were wearing at the turn of the 20th century and up to the 1920s? Yeah, I think string bikinis push it a bit but what is wrong with those "one-piece" swimsuits from the 1970's and 1980's? Those, I find, to be quite sexy yet not as horrible as string bikinis can go!
Honestly, who am I and who are you to judge, EVEN TO COMPLAIN, about what these women wear when at the beach or at a public pool? Yeah it can be distracting and for me, arousing, but I need to be respectful of the women and calm myself down. It's okay for us guys to walk around shirtless in our trunks but what do women have or rather for this discussion, what is appropriate for them to wear? A shirt with their bra still on and trunks under short shorts? Come on!

I guess they really aren't modest. I see all the women rationalizing why being 90% exposed is still "modest" because of this and that.
I guess they rationalize that "their" intent is all that matters regardless of whether the end result is the same. They rationalize that what is going on between their ears and in their mind is all that counts. They aren't trying to be sexual or trying to turn strangers on therefore it is "modest" and appropriate. Their intent makes no difference on the guys ogling the eye candy... they see it how they want.
Maybe the girls claiming to be modest aren't the same ones wearing tiny, revealing bikinis.
Because it's hypocrisy. They figure that wearing one is only related to going out on the beach. But it's still the same thing would you choose not to cover up. If they are comfortable with that, then that's their personal business. Overall I don't agree with wearing it, and I myself would never wear it. I wear swimsuits and that's just it. Because it's bad enough you already showing a bit far too much. Plus is often done just to get men to lust after women anyway, and use it as an excuse to say they want to feel sexy. You don't need to undress to be sexy, that's what I believe.
why do you all give a damn? it's the damn beach people. relax. we don't need to be wearing muumuus at the beach for "modesty." some people do it for tanning. a swimsuit is not ideal for tanning. only your ass and legs and arms tan. but what about your stomach and chest?
Because it's our eyes and we're the ones I got to see it. Then when you girls get the wrong kind of attention then he want to blame a man for staring. At the same time you got kids there, and they don't need to be an influencer with bad intentions and behaviors. If you want to tan that is your personal business. With tanning is also not a smart and healthy way to you have on your skin. Especially with the way how a ozone layer is. But if you guys want to risk getting cancer and other health problems what do you wear sunscreen and not then that's your personal choice. Besides I don't go around exposing my stomach and chest. Men don't have that problem because they're not the one that have breasts.
what do you want them to wear then? would you recommend a silk blouse with some black dress pants? it's the beach, the pool. people go there for the very reason of getting 70 percent naked. to tan, to swim. it's indecent to walk around naked on the street or in the workplace, but no one expects you to be "modest" at the beach. of course, you can still make an effort not to wear a thong or a swimsuit that's two sizes too small, but there is nothing wrong with a bikini.
Like really! i've had other experiences with this subject too! where the person fails to get the difference between bikini and underwear plus the appropriateness of wearing the right outfit for beaches and sea sides. You obviously not going to the beach wearing the office outfit. lol!
I wore one once when I was 13 and felt extremely uncomfortable so I never wore one again after that. It had nothing to do with my body either because I was always a good healthy size. It had to do with horny boys looking at me and I was already a horny girl too so I told myself to cover up to stop all that temptation.
A modest woman typically is hidden and held to a certain way of living and a lot of them are envious of the free life of those more open so they accept a few parameters in those free living women they see like a bathing suit just to help make them feel alive once in a while
I’m a modest person. I’ve recently started wearing bikinis but not the type you see other girls wear. I always make sure my chest is covered (usually like a sports bra bikini top), and I usually just wear Nike swim shorts. I typically only wear that though if the days are 85+ at the beach So I have my boobs, and butt covered
1. Actually, a bikini swimsuit is a lit bit more substantial than panties and a bra. Most of them are not transparent when wet and they are not as easily removed.
2. Many modest women do wear one piece swimsuits, especially as they get older. For those who do wear bikinis, I think they are concerned about standing out from the crowd.
3. What is acceptable on the beach is not the same as what is acceptable in town. Would you go downtown wearing only a swim suit?
Maybe some women just like to dress appro depending on the place and occasion so they wouldn't wear something considered too skinny at a place, but bikini is fine at the beach because that is what people wear there and there are many bikinis that give more coverage and show less skin.
But then there are women who absolutely don't show skin anywhere and don't wear bikini at the beach as well, they would wear something like a burkini instead.

I don't wear bikinis or go to the beach because I can't stand the heat Swimwear can be modest too, you know though
You dress for the occasion. If your going to a formal event you wear formal clothing, if your out and about you wear everyday or work clothes. When you go to the beach you wear beach clothes. For some people that means Bikinis, for others that means one pieces. Whatever they are more comfortable in, comfortable as in physically and mentally.
It’s very normalised nowadays to wear a bikini. I’ve heard people talking about one pieces and other swimwear and you are apparently considered weird if you want to wear one of those, so I guess that’s why even very modest girls wear bikinis: they don’t want to be thought of as weird
For years, a bikini is considered swimwear. If you live in a beach county, women walk around the town in them! It has nothing to do with modesty because it’s considered appropriate swimwear. Just like nightwear- modest women can own lingerie.
As some people said, context. It's very normal to see girls in bikinis at the beach and pool, probably normalized by non shy/modest girls. But just because someone is shy doesn't mean they wanna feel left out.
Dude I’m sorry but people here can’t be saying a bikini and underwear are not the same. That’s like saying a red watermelon and a yellow watermelon are both not equally watermelons. Bikinis nowadays are even more revealing than underwear. No I don’t agree with bikinis and my daughter won’t wear one, because I’m not okay with portraying myself or my beautiful daughter in a way that guys will see her in bed

My mindset is that a girls beauty comes from her modesty. Only her husband deserves to see that, random men on the street shouldn’t be lusting over her. I’d hate to see my daughter at the bed looked at at all the wrong places by random men, she’s too good for that I’m doing it for her good
Wearing a bathing suit isn't the matter being discussed. It is the type of bathing suit being discussed. Your are lumping all bathing suits into one category and dismissing the debate. There is a wide spectrum... from one pieces with no French cut all the way to thong, string micro-bikinis.
You use a debate error by saying "bathing suit" and lump all into one category and dismiss the entire discussion.
@your update: why is male nudity less sexual than female nudity? I understand that you may be a straight male, but roughly half of the population likes men the way you like women. The main reason male nudity is regarded differently than female is culture. And culture is rarely logical.
Modesty isn't about shame - it's about not revealing more than what is necessary for optimum health and social function. When you are swimming - your body is trying to avoid getting wet so optimal health would mean wearing less revealing clothing.

Well, I would say most truly modest women aren't okay with bikinis. I take great pride in dressing modestly, and I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable in a bikini. Perhaps your definition of modesty is different from mine.
Because it is a normal thing to wear at the beach. I find women who totally cover themselves at a beach stand out far more than the bikini-clad women, it just looks wrong and out of place.
It's a woman, they are confident in their body and it's ok to show they are a woman. that bikini is fine, some of them are too little. females like to feel they are desirable.
The difference is when at the beach they are with friends and a bunch of strangers. Where as just around they have the possibility to run into people they know

Yeah. I have a modest bikini because it has a skirt to cover my hips and butt, but it's still shorter than any shorts I would wear normally. I simply wouldn't wear just a bra out of the house, but that's essentially how swimsuits are made. I also wear a swimsuit cover-up once I leave the pool
It's true, it's hard for guys to remember that, but if the shorts are annoying as is when they are wet, imagine a full body suit, on top of that, people can even catch a cold because of it
Swim underwear and underwear, swim trunks and boxers is same thing but used in a different setting. When you swim you need as little cloths as possible so you will not sink as a rock.
Because you either swim in a swimsuit or get the hell out of our swimming pool.. go to saudia Arabia if you wanna swim while wearing a towel. Or don't go to the beach
